Visual Experience Designer – EA SPORTS NHL

The Role

We’re looking for a Visual Experience Designer who is excited to help shape the look and feel of the EA SPORTS NHL experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating visually compelling, intuitive, and player-centric interfaces. With strong foundations in visual and interaction design, you’ll bring clarity and cohesion to complex systems within a fast-paced creative environment. You’re a highly collaborative, detail-oriented designer who can translate UX direction into polished, high-impact visual solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Create high-fidelity UI designs and rapid prototypes for new and existing game features.

  • Contribute to the UI visual language including iconography, typography, hierarchy, and brand expression aligned with the NHL visual identity.

  • Help shape and maintain our UI design system to ensure consistency across the product.

  • Collaborate with Producers, UX Designers, and Engineers to identify opportunities and understand player needs.

  • Ensure your design solutions consider technical feasibility, scope, and production realities.

  • Participate in design reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback grounded in product goals.

  • Present design rationale clearly to partners across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in visual design, UI/UX, or product design roles.

  • Strong visual design craft, including layout, composition, typography, color, illustration, and iconography.

  • Understanding of usability principles and designing for accessibility, diversity, and inclusivity.

  • Proficiency in interaction design, prototyping, and high-fidelity visual execution.

  • Experience presenting and articulating design decisions to cross-functional teams.

  • A portfolio showcasing thoughtful design process and strong visual craft.

  • Proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • BA/BS degree (or equivalent experience) in Design, HCI, Interactive Media, or a related field.

Bonus:

  • Experience working in games, live service products, or interactive entertainment.

  •  3D, motion graphics, or real-time engine experience.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$83,000 - $116,400 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
