The Tech Artist - Cinematics is a game engine specialist who designs and implements in-engine content production workflows to maximize both creativity and productivity for cinematic artists. This work includes importing, manipulating, and preparing 3D assets such as characters, scenery, cameras, animation, lights, VFX, and rendering parameters towards production-ready environments where artists can accomplish their creative work rather than dealing with technicalities. You will collaborate with cinematic artists and technical artists and developers to ensure our marketing assets are delivered to the highest quality possible.
This is a hybrid remote/in-office role working from our Stockholm studio. You will report to the Sr. Technology Lead in the Marketing Content Production Craft team.
Responsibilities:
You will set up cinematic shot layouts, lookdev scenes, and reusable prefabs on 3D asset pipelines.
Improve existing node-based visual scripting logic for game entities and rendering processes, and designing and implementing new processes when needed.
Understand DCC/real-time production pipelines and how to manage different asset types.
Adapt to artistic and technical constraints to provide efficient workflow solutions for 3D cinematic artists on a per project basis.
Identify and diagnose game engine technical issues and pipeline inefficiencies and applying the required knowledge to implement solutions to those.
Provide hands-on support to artists and engineers regarding cinematic pipeline and game engine workflows, asset performance and validation.
Assess technical creative processes and identify opportunities for tool improvements.
Collaborate with partner teams to solve technical challenges and share best practices.
Write technical documentation and user guides about content production workflows.
Contribute to general cinematic content production to achieve the final creative vision as set forward by Art/Creative Direction.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of professional experience in a digital art content creation pipeline, within the video game or film/tv industry with a focus on cinematics.
Experience with real-time game engine workflows (Frostbite, Unreal, Unity, or similar) and the technical hurdles and limitations associated.
Familiarity with Digital Content Creation (DCC) 3D tools such as Maya, Motion Builder, and Houdini with a focus on resolving asset pipeline issues.
Experience with visual node-based scripting systems
Basic knowledge of any high-level coding language (Python, C#, mel scripting)
Experience with version control systems such as Perforce, Git, or Shotgrid (Flow Production Tracking).
