EA's Production Infrastructure & Engineering (PI&E) organization provides the essential platforms and infrastructure hosting solutions that power EA's live services. Our charter is to make EA's games and services available to all players anytime and anywhere. We focus on the high availability of infrastructure and services, aiming to help developers to experiment and build new games quickly, using workflows that promote rapid development in the cloud. In all of this, we focus on being there for players where and when they want to play.
The Game Server Hosting organization builds the critical, cloud-native game server infrastructure and studio-facing tooling that underpins EA's current and future generations of multiplayer games.
As a Backend Software Engineer, you will work across our portfolio of backend services and infrastructure to enhance our game server platform. You will report to the Sr. Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities:
- You will help design and implement new product features and improve existing functionality.
- You will integrate and contribute to the backend API layer of the game server platform.
- You will collaborate with Product & Program Managers to ensure clarity and understanding of features and priorities.
- You will work directly with divisional and game studio partners to understand priorities and requirements while contributing to releasing games to market.
- You will contribute to the successful launch of online games from some of the industry's top franchises.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years hands-on commercial software development experience
- Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience building & orchestrating containers using Docker and Kubernetes

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

- $96,400 - $133,900 CAD
- California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento)
- $122,300 - $170,600 USD
- Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs)
- $111,800 - $151,800 USD
- Jersey City, NJ
- $137,300 - $170,600 USD
- New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo)
- $104,000 - $170,600 USD
- Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane)
- $104,000 - $174,700 USD
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
