Description & Requirements

Our EA Experiences group (XO) is dedicated to ensuring great experiences for our growing communities centered around our world-renowned brands, including fan-favorites like Apex, Battlefield, EA SPORTS FC, Madden NFL and The Sims, just to name a few. We’re a multi-functional group, with world-class expertise building fandoms, driving interactive storytelling, and positioning our franchises at the center of the broader entertainment ecosystem. We inspire, connect, and engage fans through culturally relevant content, intentionally architected journeys across channels, and meaningful fan care. Our goal is to provide valuable, easy experiences that fans love in our games, around our games, and through innovative adjacent experiences to grow and enrich how fans experience EA as we shape the future of entertainment.

To empower more players and fans in new and amazing ways, we need more innovators to join our world-class team. The future of entertainment is interactive, and you can help lead that future, by growing and enriching how hundreds of millions of people (and counting) find joy and belonging, forge friendships, and celebrate their lived experiences through the work we do every single day, together.

You will be the hands-on lead architect for our core agentic solutions, reporting to the Director, Agentic Solutions. You will design, create, and deploy AI-powered solutions that transform content creation, data and analytics, and our core business processes and systems. You’ll architect and ship innovative AI native solutions that leverage agents, multi-agent workflows, guardrails, knowledge bases, knowledge graphs, LLM’s, vision models, diffusion models, and related technologies. You will define requirements, rapidly prototype, iterate with stakeholders, and establish reusable architectures, standards, and patterns using the latest AI engineering methodologies, models, tools, and platforms. You’re creative, innovative, self-motivated, and team-first, equally strong at problem-solving and collaborating across creative, product, marketing, data, and engineering teams. As the technical lead for this area, this role may also include people-management responsibilities, growing and mentoring a small team of engineers as the function scales. You will create scalable AI pipelines and workflows that enable teams to spend more time on high-value, creative, and strategic work. You will be a hybrid worker, collaborating with teams 3 days a week from the office; international travel to collaborate with global teams is an added bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and delivery of core agentic solutions: own the technical direction, set the standards and patterns the team builds on, and stay hands-on in the code, pairing with engineers, reviewing designs and PRs, and building alongside the team. Hands-on IC contribution is a core expectation of this role, regardless of level.

  • Grow and guide the team as the function scales: this role may include direct people management, covering hiring and developing engineers, running 1:1s, performance reviews, and career growth, and setting the conditions for the team to ship fast and learn faster.

  • Architect the AI platform foundation: design and own the shared infrastructure that powers AI solutions across XO, including model gateways, agent runtime and orchestration, eval and observability frameworks, vector stores, RAG services, MCP server infrastructure, and identity and secrets primitives.

  • Lead enterprise AI integration: embed agentic AI into core business systems and workflows (IT, HR, finance, legal, operations, internal support, knowledge management), turning manual back-office work into AI-native processes.

  • Define and operate data, knowledge, and RAG architectures: stand up enterprise-grade data lakes, vector stores, knowledge bases, and knowledge graphs that intelligent assistants and agents build on.

  • Productionize and operate at scale: own the path from prototype to production, including integration with existing platforms and services, SLOs, reliability, cost controls, multi-tenant safety, and incident response for AI workloads.

  • Embed guardrails, safety, governance, and FinOps: implement policies and evaluation frameworks for IP, privacy, security, and bias. Define R/A/G thresholds, eval gates, and cost and latency budgets that ship with every AI system.

  • Standardize architectures, SDKs, and reference patterns: build and maintain the reusable reference architectures, SDKs, IaC modules, and templates for agents, multi-agent workflows, RAG, and LLM and vision integrations that the rest of the org consumes.

  • Provide technical leadership across XO: set the engineering bar for your team and adjacent teams, review designs, mentor architects and engineers, and drive alignment across product, platform, security, and IT.

  • Partner across the business: co-create with product, engineering, IT, security, data, legal, and business systems owners to identify high-leverage opportunities, shape requirements, and ensure solutions are scalable and policy-aligned.

  • Run “prove, pilot, production” cycles: define success metrics, analyze impact, and continuously refine models, prompts, workflows, and UX based on data and stakeholder feedback.

  • Evangelize and upskill the org: share best practices, host demos and workshops, and coach teams on building with agents, LLMs, vision and diffusion models, MCP, and modern AI infrastructure.

Your Qualifications

  • 10+ years architecting, prototyping, and deploying production-grade software with strong software engineering, security, and infrastructure best practices; 3+ of those years in a technical lead or principal architect role.

  • Experience mentoring and leading engineers, with the potential to take on direct people management (hiring, performance management, career development) as the team grows; a track record of contributing to high-performing AI/ML or platform engineering teams.

  • 3+ years building production AI/ML solutions with measurable business impact.

  • Hands-on builder mentality. You ship. Daily fluency with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate development, experimentation, and review. Bias toward fast, production-ready development and tight stakeholder iteration. Hands-on IC contribution is expected of every member of this team, regardless of level, including this role.

  • Player/coach instincts. Comfortable balancing hands-on building with team leadership; you can switch between architecting, coding, mentoring, and managing in the same week without losing edge in any of them.

  • Strong Python; working knowledge of at least one additional backend language (Go, TypeScript/Node, Java, or C#); comfortable in IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi).

  • Deep working knowledge of prompt and context engineering; AI agents, agentic architectures, tool calling, and Model Context Protocol (MCP); RAG, embeddings, and vector databases; evaluation, benchmarking, and guardrails.

  • Production cloud experience required across at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP (multi-cloud is a strong plus), including container platforms (Kubernetes, ECS), serverless, IAM, networking, and secrets management.

  • Enterprise architecture and microservices design; event-driven and async messaging patterns; API gateways and contracts; observability and telemetry; CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience integrating AI into enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, ITSM, HRIS, identity, knowledge management) and navigating SSO, RBAC, audit, and data residency requirements.

  • Experience tuning language and diffusion models, labeling and tagging data, and architecting data pipelines.

  • Track record navigating the legal, ethical, and security implications of AI, including data privacy, IP, safety, and responsible use of Generative AI, and translating policy into engineering controls.

  • Experience leading cross-functional, globally distributed initiatives; able to influence both inside and outside your reporting line. Direct people-management experience is a plus, as this role may take on team-management responsibilities over time.

  • Analytical, multi-angle problem-solver, comfortable reframing problems, weighing trade-offs, and landing pragmatic, high-impact solutions.

  • Excellent communicator who translates complex concepts into clear narratives that connect engineering decisions to business impact for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Customer- and player-centric mindset; passionate about building solutions that empower teams and delight fans.

  • Continual learner who stays current on AI models, tools, and architectural patterns and translates them into XO advantage.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within a large organization, comfortable with both deep IC work and broad technical leadership.
