The EA SPORTS DevOps team is looking for a DevOps Software Engineer Intern to join us. You will be part of a global team contributing to the best sports games on the market (NHL, FC, UFC - just to name a few fan favorites).

You will be part of a great team that values collaboration and knowledge sharing. You will work with / learn different technologies, integrate them in the global gaming systems architecture and progress towards the next step in your career path.



Responsibilities:

  • You will be reporting to your project & people manager based in Vancouver, BC.

  • Enhance availability, performance, and stability of cloud-based services through automation

  • Refine and improve CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tooling (such as GitOps, GitLab)

  • Work with a global team to implement technologies and provide support within a follow-the-sun model (troubleshoot game server infrastructure at different layers, including application, network, load balancing, OS, and application).

  • Troubleshoot deployment issues, connectivity challenges, performance problems, and availability outages.

  • Develop productivity-enhancing tools to automate common system administration tasks.

  • Maintain documentation of system configurations and procedures.

  • Support an always-on gaming server infrastructure.

  • Participate in the evaluation of new technologies that improve the team's efficiency and platform capabilities.


Qualifications:

  • You must be available for a full-time paid internship from May 11 - December 18, 2026.

  • You must be enrolled in an accredited program in a related field.

  • You must be returning to school for at least one semester following your work term with EA.

  • Basic level experience writing software in one or more languages, such as Python, JavaScript, or similar.

  • Basic level experience or knowledge of cloud concepts and services of major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure).

  • Basic level experience with orchestration or deployment technologies and tools (such as Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Helm).

  • Basic level experience or knowledge of networking technologies such as DNS, subnetting, route tables, NAT, firewalls, Load Balancers, and web standards (REST APIs).

  • Basic level expertise in operating systems and network security fundamentals.

  • Basic level experience or knowledge with configuration management systems (such as Chef, Ansible).

  • Hands-on experience with version control systems such as GIT.

  • Basic level experience with pipeline automation or CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitLab, and GitHub.

  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability systems such as Prometheus and Grafana.

  • Familiarity with IT security best practices such as encryption, certificates, key and credentials management.

We are only considering students who can work in Canada, will be enrolled in an accredited degree program throughout this Co-op, and slated to graduate no earlier than May 2027. You must be legally authorised to work in Canada on a full-time basis during the 8 month Co-op term. Visa sponsorship and relocation are not available for this position.


The hourly pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including 80 hours per year of sick time (prorated based on scheduled hours per week if less than full-time), 16 paid company holidays per year, medical insurance, and 401(k).
