On NHL, the Economy Game Product Manager’s mission, in close collaboration with the wider NHL Live Content Team, is to help create the most engaging and rewarding live service experience for our players. You will have a mix of strategic and creative abilities that can help create actionable plans and content strategies that benefit our players. You will report directly to the Director of Product Management and will partner with other Product Managers, Producers, Game Designers, Artists, and external team members to further the growth of NHL's live service.

Your Responsibilities

  • Translate the weekly/monthly/annual goals of the Live Product team into an executable plan for Content Producers by: prioritizing tasks that will accomplish the desired outcome, communicating through scope documents and workflow management systems, and continuously managing stakeholder expectations.

  • Translate design briefs for economy reward mechanisms into executable requests and manage these requests with the various partner teams.

  • Create detailed execution criteria for content offerings and messages, based on your knowledge of the game and the player, while balancing this with the directional strategy from the Director of Product Management.

  • Work with the Live Team to generate exciting visual assets that help players interact with live content.

  • Use analytics dashboards, game expertise and player data to run economy simulations and provide balanced value recommendations for the content each week.

  • Create a weekly/monthly/quarterly schedule of in-game events that will be exciting to players and utilize relevant mechanics, then manage the scheduling and launch of engagement content in game according to the learnings from results of the previous events.

  • Use techniques such as messaging, player notifications, recommendations and behavioral analytics to guide players to content they can enjoy.

  • Hone your skills in calculating the effect of content on the in-game economy, reaching a deep understanding of the economic flows, acting as a subject matter expert for your peer Product Managers in this skill for your shared product pillar.

  • Understand economic risks and develop mitigation strategies that support a continually exciting player journey and ensure long term sustainability of various economic systems.

  • Assess, construct, balance, and rebuild in-game value chains to facilitate an enjoyable experience for all players, across the product lifecycle.

  • Embrace ambiguity and lean into quick feedback and iteration loops.
