We are seeking a Senior Cinematic Technical Designer to shape the future of our in-engine content creation workflows, with a focus on the cinematics pipeline. Your expertise in AAA cinematic productions will be crucial in enhancing the efficiency and quality of visual storytelling in our games. We need someone passionate about simplifying cinematic creation, enabling artists to achieve higher quality levels with more efficiency and with greater creative freedom.
This position collaborates with various departments across DICE and partnering studios. Your networking skills are key to allow us to collaborate with other partnering teams like Central Tech, Frostbite and Marketing.
Responsibilities:
- Imagine and communicate your vision to optimize cinematic content creation workflows. Lower the barrier to entry and simplify getting to quality
- Collaborate with partners to execute on the technical vision for the cinematic pipeline
- Maintain a holistic view of the entire cinematic pipeline from in-engine to DCC
- Answer or find answers to any workflow related questions from content creators
- Create example content and document best practices for cinematic authoring
- Collaborate with partners to ensure excellent technical and visual quality across all cinematics
- Capture and create real-world, validated lighting environments for use in-engine and DCC
- Consult and support 3d and VFX artists with content validation workflows between in-engine and DCC
- Set up automation to facilitate creative and technical reviews for in-engine content
- Participate and contribute in the wider EA cinematics content community to stay up to date on Frostbite’s and other game-teams’ roadmaps and identity collaboration opportunities
Requirements:
- Multiple years of experience as a technical leader in a cinematics domain, with shipped titles from the AAA space
- You are a super-user of our toolsets and the ambassador of spreading knowledge to content creators.
- Strong proficiency working in video game editors (Frostbite, Unreal, Unity etc.)
- Ability to work with game-logic using visual scripting
- Understanding of traditional film techniques
- Deep understanding of real time rendering technologies in a PBR engine, with the ability to create photoreal lighting environments from scratch including post-processing and color management
- Experience with Perforce, Jenkins, Jira and Confluence
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills and experience with effective feedback for internal and external partners
- Self-driven with strong leadership skills to lead and support a large number of artists toward a singular vision
