About the Team

The Ventures Innovation team at Electronic Arts is dedicated to exploring new opportunities beyond the bounds of traditional gaming; specifically new opportunities across the rapidly evolving industry as well as disruptive forms of sports entertainment.

As part of the Experiences organization, we are a forward-thinking team of innovators, strategists, creatives, engineers, and statisticians. Together, we incubate disruptive products, features, and capabilities that sit outside the core gaming experiences of EA, breaking new ground in interactive experiences and sports entertainment.

The Role

As a Lead Experience Designer at EA reporting to the Senior Manager of Design, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital experiences ecosystem, bringing concepts to life around and beyond our games. The Lead Experience Designer will lead the design strategy for new concepts coming from our strategic arm, building a design vision, and ensuring high quality in all discovery, user interactions and design execution for the project. The person in this position will be expected to not only generate solid design in the form of a structured framework and systems, but also ensure that the execution is world class, with a focus on user interaction, behavior, and frictionless engagement. There will be an expectation of very good communication and presentation skills. This is a major opportunity to contribute creatively on many new experiences across EA.

You will be at the forefront of designing user-centric experiences, and not only leading the strategy but also executing the work alongside other top product designers. We're looking for a creative and experienced Lead Designer who is not only passionate about gaming but also possesses the ability to think critically, solve complex design problems, and collaborate effectively within a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our strategy leadership team in forming high level designs and vision for new and compelling products or experiences.

  • Generate high quality and inspirational design for the experience and/or product.

  • Drive the iterative process to ensure the highest quality designs.

  • Work side-by-side with our engineering team to bring designs to life, taking an agile and collaborative approach which results in fast prototyping and adjustments when necessary.

  • Work closely with the Manager of Product Design and our Engineering Leads

You'll also bring the following skills or experiences to our team:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in product/experience design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work on web platforms, apps, or related digital products. Complete UX understanding: problem discovery, solution generation, concept creation, wireframing, testing, synthesis, iteration, prototyping, competitive analysis, customer journey mapping, applying design systems and producing deliverables for development.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise content management systems, design systems, consumer-facing products, and multi-destination publishing platforms (create once, publish everywhere).

  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and information architecture.

  • Expert knowledge of design and prototyping tools like Figma or others.

  • General awareness of web and mobile technology (i.e., JavaScript, React, Typescript, HTML/CSS).

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and strategically to design intuitive and visually appealing solutions.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with design systems, demonstrating the ability to create and maintain consistent design patterns and guidelines.

  • Passion for gaming and a keen interest in exploring innovative design approaches within the gaming industry.

  • Experience in Multi Platform Interface Design such as: Gaming consoles, Web ecosystems, VR & AR and Native IOS and Android apps is a plus.

Attributes:

  • Smart Problem Solver: You have a knack for tackling complex design challenges, analyzing user pain points, and crafting effective solutions that balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

  • Collaborative: You thrive in a team environment and actively contribute to discussions, valuing diverse perspectives. You're receptive to feedback and can effectively collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines.

  • Passionate: Your enthusiasm for design and gaming is infectious. Your passion drives you to create exceptional experiences that resonate with players and elevate our digital ecosystem.
