The FC Gameplay Advanced Team makes meaningful innovations in team strategy, AI, player animation, and player interactions that create exciting back of the box features for the EA Sports FC franchise. We work with creative designers, artists, and engineers to deliver big ideas that matter to the millions of players who enjoy the biggest sports video game in the world.
In this role you will join our multidisciplinary effort to deliver the best animation in the industry, initially focusing on models, tools, and systems that let us rapidly innovate on animation variety, control, and responsiveness while preserving visual quality.
Your Responsibilities:
Experiment with ML techniques to find models that generate or assess realistic human motion
Integrate these models into C++ game code to implement or support shipping features
Gather, annotate, and synthesize the required data for your models, based on EA FC’s extensive mocap and real-world volumetric data as well as feedback from our animation experts
Share your results through presentations, papers, prototypes and compelling interactive demonstrations
Stay abreast of the latest advancements and consult with internal stakeholders such as production, design, and artists, to identify opportunities and propose impactful projects
Your Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent experience
Proficiency with C++ and Python
Strong technical background, experience working with both research engineering and game development, and a proven track record of delivery
Experience with AI and machine learning, their relevant tools and platforms, and its application in gaming
Demonstrated success turning new ideas into effective implementations
Python programming experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow
Experience in working with cloud technology and platforms, e.g. containers, Kubernetes, Azure, and AWS
Experience in working with GBs/TBs of data
Experience in productizing ML solutions as web services or as a standalone applications
Experience in optimizing ML models for memory and compute constrained real-time environments
Knowledge of 3D transformations
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
- $115,100 - $161,200 CAD
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
