Head of Design & UX.
Title: Head of Design & UX
Location: Singapore or EARS (Hybrid)
Employment type: Full-time
Language: Mandarin and English preferred.
Job Description
At EA, we believe games are powerful because they bring together multiple ways people engage: play, watch, create, and connect. And increasingly, the biggest entertainment platforms aren’t just places to consume content — they’re places where communities build.
Creator-made content is already a proven part of EA’s history — from community creation tools in Battlefield to The Gallery in The Sims 4. We believe new creative technologies and tools will expand how players engage with and contribute to our experiences, supported by thoughtful product design, safety systems, and global reach. Our focus is on enabling more players to participate in creative expression by making creation easier, safer, and more rewarding.
We’re looking for a Head of Design to own the end-to-end experience strategy across the player app and creator tools—mobile-first creation, discovery, marketplace, social, safety, and economy surfaces.
Your mandate: deliver a coherent, high-quality experience that adapts effectively for priority regions, increases activation, retention, and creator success, and meets accessibility and trust standards. You will partner closely with Product, Technology, Growth, Trust & Safety teams, as well as regional stakeholders to ship high-quality, compliant experiences at velocity.
Key Responsibilities
Set the UX vision and principles across player, creator, marketplace, and safety experiences; translate strategy into roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
Own multi-surface design across mobile and PC (and other supported platforms as applicable), ensuring responsiveness, performance, and appropriate parity across regions.
Build and scale a unified design system (tokens, components, motion, accessibility) with governance and documentation; enable regional variants without fragmenting the core.
Lead creator experience design for onboarding, templates, no-code flows, pro tools, publishing, and analytics to increase creation velocity and quality globally.
Elevate player journeys for discovery, feeds, recommendations, profiles, social interactions, and community tools with safety-by-design.
Design economy touchpoints (storefronts, wallets, purchase flows, bundles, gifting) with monetization and payments partners; ensure clarity, consent, and entitlement integrity.
Institutionalize research and insights: run market-by-market discovery, usability studies, diary studies, and segmentation; synthesize into prioritized opportunities.
Operationalize experimentation with Product/Data: define UX success metrics (activation, day-N retention, task completion, “time well spent”) and run A/B and qualitative feedback loops.
Champion accessibility and inclusive design: set standards (e.g., WCAG-aligned practices), age-appropriate UX, and culturalization patterns (language, iconography, norms).
Establish Design Ops: intake, prioritization, critique cadence, quality bars, and spec/review workflows enabling fast live-ops iteration across time zones.
Codify regional UX playbooks: localization kits, tone/voice guidelines, safety and guardianship flows, and app-store-compliant patterns for priority markets.
Recruit, coach, and retain talent; develop growth paths for ICs and managers and foster a collaborative, impact-oriented culture.
Requirements
10+ years in Product/UX Design for consumer platforms (UGC/games/social/media), including 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary design teams.
Portfolio demonstrating platform-scale UX, creator/tooling design, and design-system leadership with measurable impact on growth and quality.
Expertise in mobile-first design with strong cross-platform sensibilities (PC) and performance-minded execution.
Proven experience shipping at least two of: creator tooling, content discovery/feeds, social/UGC features, marketplace/economy surfaces, or safety/identity systems.
Strong command of research and experimentation methods; ability to convert insights and metrics into prioritized, region-aware roadmaps.
Depth in accessibility, localization, and inclusive design for global audiences, including youth/guardian experiences and cultural norms.
Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication; able to align executives and partners around a cohesive experience vision.
Mandarin and English preferred; comfortable collaborating across APAC and Western markets.
Bachelor’s degree in Design/HCI/CS or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree a plus.
