Description & Requirements
The Office of the CXO (oCXO) drives effectiveness across the EA Experiences organization, focusing on excellence in business operations, comprehensive fan intelligence, and internal technology and business solutions. We are horizontal connectors empowering teams across the Experiences organization with the strategic prioritization, investments, resources, data, insights, and technology required to accelerate outcomes in service of our goals. You will report to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure Architecture.
Role Overview
We are looking for a mid-level Taxonomist and Knowledge Architect to join the Information Architecture team within the oCXO Fan Intelligence group. You will be a strategic partner to our Franchise Analytics teams. You will design and advocate for architecture solutions that improve how we deliver insights. These insights are for campaign planning and executive decision-making across marketing and customer experience.
You will bridge the gap between traditional library science and modern data engineering. You have a curious mindset and be comfortable explaining semantic relationships to stakeholders and writing utility scripts to automate metadata pipelines. We ask that you will be a proactive problem solver who understands how data structures drive business value in a high-scale environment.
Responsibilities
In this dual role of Taxonomist (60%) and Knowledge Architect (40%), you will:
Architect Solutions: Develop taxonomies, metadata schemas, and knowledge representation models (ontologies, semantic networks) that align with our goals and technical system requirements.
Operationalize Governance: Lead the implementation of taxonomies, ontologies, and governance frameworks, and educate partners on workflows to ensure data consistency across diverse teams.
Create Data Solutions: Collaborate with system owners to establish data-sourcing agreements and build automated pipelines that transform metadata to meet stakeholder requirements.
Support Analytics and AI: Partner with data science teams to improve labelling practices and metadata strategies that enhance machine learning models and automated insights.
Resolve Information Gaps: Identify and fix metadata issues to ensure data integrity and ensure seamless information flow between front-end interfaces and backend reporting systems.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of experience building and implementing taxonomies or ontologies within a global organization.
Education: Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Computational Linguistics, or equivalent education and professional experience.
Taxonomy Expertise: Understanding of the theoretical principles of taxonomic architecture and experience adapting controlled vocabularies for organizational needs.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in standards-based tools and languages, including SQL, SPARQL, SHACL, and semantic standards such as SKOS, OWL, and RDF.
Programming and Automation: Proficiency in Python, Java, or R for data conversion, text processing, and system administration.
Analytical Mindset: You will analyze large datasets to identify patterns and a foundational understanding of machine learning and natural language processing.
Collaborative Spirit: Strong business acumen, adaptability to competing stakeholder needs and changing priorities, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders.
