Who we are
Game Production Solutions (GPS) is part of Game Developer Experience (GDX) at Electronic Arts. We build solutions for our customers (Game Teams / Creators). We empower game creators to make an outsized impact with our technology.
Your role
As a Technical Director in GPS, you will report to the Senior Technical Director and serve as the technical leader for one of our most critical product areas. You will be accountable for technology strategy, execution and ensuring our services meet the needs of Game Studios.
This role requires strong accountability and ownership. You'll provide leadership with clear, accurate information, while also being able to dive deep into technical problems, analyze them and present solutions. You'll partner with Product Management, GPS leadership and the Principal Engineer to align priorities, define milestones and deliver scalable, resilient and observable services.
What you'll do
Own the outcomes of your area, focusing the team on the right priorities for Game Studios.
Apply a business-first mindset, start with the studio problem, then select the right technology to solve it.
Lead service development, ensuring reliability, scalability and strong observability (e.g. leveraging OpenTelemetry and other tools).
Dive into technical areas when needed, perform analysis and recommend solutions to the GPS leadership.
Partner with Product Management, GPS leadership and the Principal Engineer to align on milestones and technical direction.
Mentor engineers, lead technical decisions and foster a culture of accountability, innovation and quality.
Anticipate risks and ensure deliverables meet EA's standards of quality.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience as a Software Developer / Engineer, with increasing responsibility.
3+ years of people management experience.
Experience with large-scale Build and Release (e.g., AAA games) or collaborative platforms (e.g., DevOps).
Strong knowledge of CI/CD, service architecture, observability and reliability engineering.
Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure); familiarity with OpenTelemetry or similar frameworks is a strong plus.
Proven ability to take ownership, provide accurate leadership updates and dive deep into technical analysis.
Proficiency in risk management, able to identify potential issues and create mitigation strategies.
Willing to travel to meet with team members and partners in person.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
