EA SPORTS is one of the most iconic brands in entertainment – connecting hundreds of millions around the world to the sports they love through a portfolio of industry-leading video games.
Our Advanced Technology Group is part of the EA SPORTS Technology organization, focusing on identifying and creating new, scalable technologies for game teams. We closely collaborate with game teams, central art teams, and the Frostbite engine team; though the technologies developed can apply to many different engines, environments, and hardware platforms. You will work on our strategic, multi-year projects focused on content creation experiences, improved creation pipelines and runtime functionality, both internal and player facing, for all EA SPORTS titles.
We are seeking Machine Learning experts with a practical mindset, passionate about creating useful tools and innovative features, eager to see their work impact fellow developers and millions of gamers, who take responsibility for ideation through productization. Reporting to the Lead Development Director, the Machine Learning Engineer will join us in creating intuitive experiences powered by ML, pushing the boundaries of game fidelity and bringing our characters to life!
Your Responsibilities:
Stay current with cutting-edge research in Machine Learning, continuously evaluating how new ideas can be applied to games.
Invent and build ML-driven solutions for complex problems in character animation, agent behavior, physics simulation, and content generation.
Design and implement production-ready ML systems that respect real-world game development constraints such as performance, tooling, and iteration speed.
Create intuitive, easy-to-use workflows that reduce repetitive manual work while empowering creators to move faster and think bigger.
Give users meaningful creative control over model behavior, making experimentation, iteration, and debugging fast and approachable.
Optimize models and pipelines to minimize training and inference time without sacrificing quality.
Evaluate, extend, and improve both internal and external ML technologies, pushing them further for game-specific use cases.
Work closely with content creators and software engineers to ensure tools are maintainable, effective, and genuinely enjoyable to use.
Your Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics, Machine Learning, or equivalent practical experience.
Expert-level proficiency in Python, with deep hands-on experience writing clean, scalable, and high-performance code.
Strong command of advanced language features such as generators, decorators, and context managers.
A solid foundation in linear algebra, statistics, and mathematical optimization.
1–2+ years of hands-on Machine Learning experience, with a strong, practical, problem-solving mindset.
The ability to take ideas from research paper to working system, balancing innovation with usability and performance.
