The Electronic Arts Digital Platform (EADP) is one of the world's largest and fastest growing gaming platforms with a mission to change how the world plays games.
We live, breathe, and dream about how we can make every player’s multiplayer experience memorable. We develop SDKs and services in collaboration with EA’s game studios for matchmaking, stats and leaderboards, achievements, game replays, VOIP, and game networking.
Our primary mission is to enrich your gaming experience by meticulously optimizing the matchmaking process. We believe that effective matchmaking is the cornerstone of any successful multiplayer gaming experience, and we are committed to perfecting this aspect of our service. We continuously reflect and probe various elements to ensure your gaming encounters are both fun and challenging. These include:
1. How can we improve matchmaking algorithms to ensure the most balanced and enjoyable gameplay?
2. How can we adjust matchmaking to increase the level of challenge when playing among a group of friends?
3. How can we predict and evaluate your connectivity to give you the best connection to other players?

What this Software Engineer will do at EA:
Drive design and implementation of APIs and protocols that are consistent, formalized, and testable
Maintain a suite of automated tests that validate the correctness of backend services
Think strategically and provide forward looking solutions without prompting
Qualifications:
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
C++ experience is mandatory
C# and Python experience is desired but not critical
Excellent communication, writing and problem solving skills
Ability to learn and quickly adapt to new technologies, project requirements and continuous feedback
You must be available for a full-time paid internship in the fall of 2025.
At this time, we are considering students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program in the fall of 2025, slated to graduate no earlier than Summer 2026. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis during the 16-week internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location. EA has listed the pay ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, degree type (e.g. Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD), what stage you are in your degree journey (i.e. freshman, sophomore, etc.), qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs. BASE SALARY RANGES • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): º 65,000 - $70,000 CAN Salary The pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including 80 hours per year of sick time (prorated based on scheduled hours per week if less than full-time), 16 paid company holidays per year, medical insurance, and 401(k). |
