American Football games (Madden, College Football, and our new project) are developed at EA’s Tiburon Studios in Orlando, FL, Madrid, Spain, and Victoria, BC, Canada by a team that prides itself on innovation and creative collaboration. We’re looking for top technical talent passionate about automation, scalability, and reliability to help redefine how we build, deploy, and operate large-scale connected game experiences for a new title that connects with football fans around the world.


Reporting to a Software Engineering Manager, as an Advanced DevOps & Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable systems and tools that improve developer velocity, build stability, and service reliability across multiple environments. Your work will have a direct impact on how our teams develop, integrate, and deliver world-class sports entertainment experiences.


 *Please note, this position will require a hybrid onsite presence in either Victoria, BC,  Orlando, FL, or Madrid, ES*


Your Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for game clients, backend services, and tools using python, c#, groovy, c++, and more.

  • Automate build, deployment, and environment management processes across Dev, Staging, and Production.

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).

  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve issues affecting build stability, uptime, and environment health.

  • Collaborate closely with gameplay, backend, and tools engineers to identify and eliminate workflow bottlenecks.

  • Manage version control integrations and branch strategies to ensure stable and consistent release cycles.

  • Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions to ensure proactive service reliability.

  • Drive continuous improvement in deployment practices, including test automation, rollback strategies, and release governance.

  • Contribute to defining and tracking key engineering KPIs, including build success rate, environment uptime, and mean time to recovery (MTTR).

  • Champion DevOps best practices across the studio, helping teams adopt modern, automated workflows.

  • Foster a strong testing culture by actively promoting best practices, mentoring team members, and driving the consistent adoption of effective testing methodologies across the team.


Your Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional software development or DevOps engineering experience.

  • 5+ years of experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.

  • 3+ years of experience developing automation for large-scale or live-service environments.

  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with one or more cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure (multi-cloud experience preferred).

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation for scalable, repeatable environment management.

  • Experience with Perforce and/or Git version control workflows.

  • Experience building and maintaining monitoring and alerting systems (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or CloudWatch).

  • Strong understanding of networking, security practices, and environment isolation.

  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

  • A passion for automation, developer enablement, and building reliable systems that scale.


Bonus

  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine, Frostbite, or other large-scale game engines and build systems.

  • Experience with artifact management, distributed caching, and CI parallelization.

  • Familiarity with secure software development practices, including secrets management and automated security scanning.

  • Experience supporting game or real-time service build pipelines for console and PC platforms.

  • Desire to mentor engineers and advocate for continuous improvement in automation and DevOps processes.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$119,600 - $167,300 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
