Lead Build Engineer – Battlefield

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

Battlefield is a storied franchise renowned for uncompromising combat gameplay for over two decades. 100 million players and 5 billion hours played later, the Battlefield team is looking to define the future of the first-person shooter. Comprised of world-class studios across Criterion, DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect – all powered by the Foundational Tech team – we are building a connected Battlefield universe filled with immersive experiences.

The Opportunity: We are seeking a Lead Build Engineer to join the Dev Stability team on Battlefield. In this role, you will be the technical leader responsible for ensuring the ongoing stability, reliability, and quality of our development and retail builds. You will be the technical face of the team in North America, collaborating across disciplines and studios to keep Battlefield development running smoothly.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the technical direction and day-to-day execution for the build engineering team, ensuring developers are unblocked and able to deliver at their best.

  • Make critical decisions on team priorities, balancing immediate needs with long-term stability and infrastructure goals.

  • Solve complex technical challenges, jumping in hands-on when needed to resolve high-impact issues.

  • Maintain a holistic view of the Battlefield development ecosystem, verifying that the right stability issues are being prioritized and addressed.

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for external requests and cross-team collaboration.

  • Plan and execute for both current and future development cycles, ensuring continuous delivery and readiness for new project phases.

  • Oversee the delivery of stable builds in development, working closely with Feature Team Leads, QA and EA wide engineering groups.

  • Escalate major issues to franchise technical leadership and coordinate responses to critical incidents.

  • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Who You Are:

A technical leader with a deep engineering background and experience shipping AAA titles, ideally in multiplayer or live service environments.

  • Skilled in C/C++, CI/CD, Perforce, and large-scale build systems.

  • Experienced in managing large codebases and multiple development branches.

  • Adept at collaborating across multiple studios, time zones, and disciplines.

  • Comfortable making high-impact decisions and communicating with leads, production, and partner teams.

  • Passionate about mentoring and developing engineers at all levels.

  • Self-driven, with a strong sense of ownership, quality and drive to understand root causes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.

  • Proven track record of delivering stable, high-quality builds in complex game development environments.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
