The Challenge
Electronic Arts (EA) thrives on providing world-class experiences for our players. Within the Experiences Org, the Fan Intelligence team empowers our Fan Care (Customer Service) and Marketing teams with the strategic data and insights required to accelerate business outcomes. We are looking for a Data Governance Specialist to join our Information Architecture (IA) team to help lead the charge in establishing a high-trust, high-quality data ecosystem.
The Role
Your primary mission is to partner with Fan Care stakeholders to operationalize the Data Quality Forum (DQF). Working with cross-functional analysts and business owners, you will apply the knowledge you gain to understand underlying business needs, ensuring that our measurement frameworks remain lean and effective while preventing unnecessary metric complexity. Key Responsibilities & Outcomes
Cross-functional collaboration: Balance Fan Care’s business needs with the processes and standards set by Information Architecture and Data Science.
Operationalize Data Governance: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of the DQF, including the creation and distribution of agendas and pre-reads to ensure stakeholder preparedness.
Measurement Framework Integrity: Evaluate all proposed metrics against the Fan Care Measurement Framework to ensure they complement existing standards and do not introduce redundancy.
Documentation & Findability: Maintain and enhance a comprehensive data library (in Alation) to help stakeholders find relevant data points, KPIs, and their specific derivations.
Standardization & Alignment: Work with the Technical Program Manager, Data Governance to create and maintain program standards. Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and define shared business terms, rules, and critical data elements.
Data Quality Advocacy: Monitor data quality within your purview by implementing standards and reporting issues through the proper councils to ensure prioritization.
Process Efficiency: Track the status of all metric submissions from intake to implementation, ensuring clear decision rights and faster decision velocity.
Qualifications
Experience: 1–2 years of experience in data governance, data management, technical program management, or data analysis.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, a technology-related field, or a data science-focused discipline.
Communication: Highly skilled at networking and explaining complex data policies in a simple, easy-to-follow manner to both technical and non-technical audiences. Smart problem solver with a strong business acumen to identify key decision points.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in SQL with experience navigating relational and distributed databases such as Snowflake.
Tooling: Familiarity with data governance platforms and catalogs, specifically Alation.
Regulatory Knowledge: Basic understanding of data privacy and security regulations, such as GDPR.
