Development Director - Slingshot Studio


What a Development Director Does at EA

Development Directors (DDs) work with their teams to build and maintain project plans and schedules to deliver on Slingshot Studio’s strategic new product development or live service games. They play a vital role in successfully transitioning the team from one project phase to the next while ensuring a strong focus on quality, collaboration, and communication.


Development Director at Slingshot Studio, lead the charge in building prototypes and guiding the development team through the creation of games from scratch, ensuring alignment with strategic product roadmaps while maintaining a strong focus on quality, collaboration, and innovation.


Key Responsibilities:


- Prototype and Game Development Leadership

 - Lead the development of game prototypes, transforming concepts into playable experiences.

 - Collaborate closely with Game Team Leadership to plan and execute live service operations, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.

 

- Project Management and Execution

 - Develop and maintain project plans and schedules, balancing scope and resources to meet strategic goals.

 - Facilitate collaboration across disciplines, enhancing efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.

 - Identify systemic risks and implement corrective actions across multiple project cycles.

 - Drive continuous process improvements, focusing on quality and efficiency.


- Communication and Collaboration

 - Communicate clearly and intentionally with team members and external stakeholders.

 - Build and maintain effective working relationships, fostering a positive impact on project completion.

 - Ensure project documentation is current and accurately reflects the project's status.


- Leadership & People Management:

- Build and nurture a high-performing team, providing coaching and development opportunities.

- Maintain regular communication with project teams and coordinate with external partners.


Requirements:

- 5 to 8 years of project management or team leadership experience.

- Proven experience in a fast-paced mobile prototyping environment, with a track record of building games from scratch, preferably mid-core games targeted to the global audience.

- Strong ability to communicate visual and quality targets effectively.

- Solid foundation in project management frameworks and tools. 

- Adaptability and iterative problem-solving skills.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.


Good to Have:
- Hands on experience in Unity Game Engine
