Description & Requirements

We are a global team of creators, storytellers, technologists, experience originators, innovators and so much more. We believe amazing games and experiences start with teams as diverse as the players and communities we serve. At Electronic Arts, the only limit is your imagination.

At Ripple Effect, we are a studio where you can do the best work of your career. Above all, we're driven by quality - in the games we create, and in the studio we've built.

Our values: We believe every day our work should be better than it was the day before. We iterate, innovate, and support our devs as they grow in their crafts and push one another toward mastery. We believe in operating with integrity, and creating a diverse team where everyone's ideas are heard.

With studios located in Los Angeles and Vancouver, Ripple Effect has been dedicated to the Battlefield franchise since our founding as DICE LA in 2013. We created Battlefield 2042's Portal, and have supported DICE on every Battlefield game since Battlefield 4.

Now, we're looking for new team members to help us craft the next Battlefield.

We are looking for an experienced Director of Product Development, passionate about both process and gaming, with in-depth knowledge of game development, acquired by having led and managed the delivery of AAA game franchises in the FPS genre, including Live and Community management. This includes an understanding of the Game Development Framework to inspire and motivate the team, providing assurance during challenging periods.

You will report to the Studio Production Director for the studio, and create credible plans for game development, with an emphasis on what good is, while understanding the iterative nature of creative processes, and how to foster change. You will be accountable for efficient development of projects to meet delivery of budget, time and quality with healthy teams.

You have many conflict resolution tools in your tool belt. You are comfortable talking across all levels of an organization, you always know the status of your project, and you can visualize that status for any audience. You know how to build healthy, high functioning relationships with partners both within and external to the studio. You are a force multiplier for the team.

We are considering on-site and hybrid working options.

What You'll Do

  • You will increase collaboration across multiple teams, studios, and time zones across continents, while resolving complex issues and building systems to circumvent them in the future. You will become a productivity master, unlocking these teams' potential to achieve operational targets.
  • You will focus on publishing project roadmaps/milestones and supporting an execution plan.
  • You will partner and review project planning and execution with Product, Production Directors, and Craft Leads, with accountability for being on budget.
  • You will build relationships and influence within and outside the studio and project.
  • You will lead the way towards creating and promoting best practices.
  • You will develop project KPIs that track project quality, delivery, risks, and financial status.
  • You will coach teams on process, including selecting the most suitable processes and most valuable metrics, communicating plans, challenges, and tracking to the team.
  • You will conduct project risk assessment, risk & mitigation tracking, driving project leadership teams to prioritized decisions and resolutions.
  • You will guide OKRs to deliver long-term strategy within our operational model.
  • You will manage the project's resource management plan including the balance of staffing decisions across teams.
  • You will establish model behaviors that support EA's standards.

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of senior level operations and leadership experience. This includes experience managing large teams at scale, with experience shipping and overseeing successful product development from start to final delivery, on multiple occasions.
  • 10+ years of expertise in the games industry that includes multiple product cycles and some variety in console/PC strategy and Live Service.
  • 5+ years of leading within a AAA game development organization with financial insight and P&L mindset.
  • 5+ years of influencing a team through change management, including partner and team management, risk assessments, including failures.
  • 5+ years of experience that includes long range operational strategies to support the product strategy including applying future technologies, organizational effectiveness, strategic staffing, and managing distributed workforce.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to engage with partner studios.
  • You are influence-oriented, and excel at collaborating with other leaders and guiding the collective group to the best action, decision, or result.
