Mako Mobile is an EA SPORTS unit responsible for the development and worldwide live operations of NBA Live Mobile and Madden Mobile. Do you love sports and wish you had the opportunity to make sports games on mobile look great for everyone to experience? We are looking for an Experience Designer II to join an established team of XDs on our Mobile Sports products. This unique role combines UI Visuals, UX, and graphic design fundamentals with emotive and expressive artwork to captivate players and enhance the overall gaming experience. This 12-month contract will give you the opportunity to help create and define many features from end to end: UX research, wireframes, visual mocks, motion visual targets, VFX, and finally, support implementation. These elements range from artistic compositions to complex UX studies.


As an Experience Designer II, you will work collaboratively with the Experience Design Director, Art Director, designers, artists, and engineers in diverse feature and live service teams. You will use your creativity, passion, and knowledge of visual design to develop engaging and leading-edge visual design content, solve complex problems, and build amazing experiences for our players.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Building highly collaborative relationships with a cross-disciplinary team and partner groups to set priorities for meaningful design solutions that meet player and business goals within technical constraints

  • Distilling user research, competitive analysis, and feedback into user-centered design goals

  • Collaborate with Artists, Designers, and Engineers to ensure that the features are of a very high quality and will enhance the overall player experience

  • Prepare UI and motion assets to be used by engineers in our game engine

  • Solid understanding of interaction design patterns and pattern systems for a product or a feature

  • Help in developing tools & refining pipelines for the XD production process

  • Framing and solving hard design problems informed by data

  • Evaluate, craft, and iterate end-to-end experiences, establishing thoughtful design solutions that are intuitive, scalable, and accessible.(e.g. layouts, information organization, typography, color theory, motion)

  • Create and refine prototypes of various fidelity (rapid, mid-fidelity, high-fidelity) to communicate intent and evaluate effectiveness.

  • Applying and establishing a set of design standards, documentation, and principles that are used alongside a design system of design interactions, patterns, and scalable components to build a consistent product

  • Applying psychological principles, ergonomics, and cognitive science to design holistic experiences for various abilities, motivations, and needs

  • Organizing, labeling, and structuring content in a way that is understandable for users/players to allow them to find and move through information and complete tasks

  • Helping teams empathize with users and advocating for usability and accessibility

  • Be part of the creation of the visual language of our mobile project, which includes layout, composition, iconography, typography, and brand expression.

  • Create high-fidelity UI screens and components that align with the product's experience goals, usability, and accessibility standards, and brand.

  • Conceptualizes theme-based items that users can earn and equip in-game


REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience as an experience designer, interaction designer, product designer, or any other related experience

  • Experience designing intuitive consumer-facing content creation tools for a variety of devices or platforms

  • Proficient in Figma, Adobe Suite, and prototyping software.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centric, data-driven, visually appealing, and functional designs.

  • Conviction to sell your ideas, prototype quickly, and refine feedback.

  • Skilled in creating complex prototypes for player experience.

  • Proactive, outcome-oriented, and solution-driven.

  • Expert-level understanding of visual psychology, organizing principles, layouts, composition, typography, color theory, and accessibility.

  • You are comfortable presenting and rationalizing design strategy and decisions to diverse audiences, using these opportunities to educate and promote.

  • Empathetic and collaborative team player.

  • You understand the importance of gracefully and constructively providing and soliciting feedback, with suggestions and solutions for improving both the process and the project.

  • You have strong written and verbal communication.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Motion design experience (After Effects, Flash)

  • 3D design experience (Maya, C4D, KeyShot)

  • Game development experience with UI and UX pipelines

  • Passion for playing games.

  • Knowledge of American Football

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$100,000 - $139,500 CAD

 In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
