Experience Designer II - A-Team

Meet the A-Team: an innovative Character Animation Research Team based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with talented remote members spread across North America.

We are a cross-functional, applied R&D team, strategically positioned in EA to drive and disrupt the future of character animation technology. We are a self-motivated, collaborative team, empowered to constantly explore and leverage the latest innovations across the fields of animation, rigging, physics, and machine learning. Our technology has been used to create next-generation gameplay realism across EA titles including FC, Madden, NHL, UFC, Battlefield, and many others.

Join us in shaping the future of how games are made!

We are looking for a talented UI/UX Designer to join the A-Team and help us build web based internal tools for digital content creation in the animation domain. Our ideal candidate is, like us, passionate about building amazing tools in a collaborative environment with a team of veteran developers. As our UX champion, you will be responsible for owning and defining the user experience of our industry leading workflows solving complex animation problems. This includes embedding deeply both with us and the animation community throughout EA to discover and develop novel workflows to empower animators to realize their creative vision leveraging our next-gen animation technologies.

You will produce wireframes, user flows, and prototypes communicating design intent.

You will:

  • Design UI/UX for digital content creation tools targeting internal teams of animators and engineers.

  • Distill user research, competitive analysis and stakeholder feedback into design goals.

  • Tackle and solve hard design problems around complex workflows.

  • Create design prototypes to demonstrate complex workflows and interactions.

  • Establish, document, and maintain a set of design standards and principles to be used in the design system, ensuring product visual quality and consistency.

  • Build relationships with our cross disciplinary team, and partner groups to set priorities towards meaningful design solutions to meet goals within technical constraints.

  • Lead our team towards empathizing with users, and advocating for usability and accessibility

  • Report directly to the A-Team Animation Director to take advantage of any opportunities you find

Ideally you will have:

  • 6+ years of experience in a UX role designing internal software tools and workflows.

  • Experience designing complex web applications.

  • Experience building prototypes to validate flows, interactions and interfaces.

  • Experience working in a highly technical environment.

  • Able to work independently and collaborate with engineers, animators and project managers.

  • Ability to present and communicate designs effectively to stakeholders.

  • Proficient with Figma.

  • Solid visual design skills.

  • Comfortable adopting AI in workflows.

Bonus:

  • Familiarity with a game engine such as Frostbite, Unreal or Unity

  • Experience with 3D animation software such as Maya or Motionbuilder.

  • Experience with front end development technologies such as Javascript, CSS and Storybook would be a bonus.

  • A passion for sports and video games.
