The Creative Innovation team within the Central Technology organisation is the driving force behind EA's cutting-edge research, 3rd-party partnerships, and content creation technologies. What you will do

We are looking for an experienced, creative, and collaborative UX Designer to help shape the tools that empower our global teams to build world-class characters and player experiences across EA titles. You will partner with product, engineering, and content teams to design intuitive, efficient workflows that allow end-users to work across complex pipelines.

You will contribute to the creation and evolution of multiple character-development tools. These tools span web-based platforms to integrated DCC environments such as Maya. Your work will guide usability, consistency, and create excellence across the ecosystem.

This role is hybrid remote/in-office, and you will work from our Vancouver/Burnaby office. You will report to a Development Director.

What you will do

  • Work on complex design challenges and guide new research projects to help solve them.

  • Establish, document, and maintain a set of design standards and principles for the design system, ensuring product visual quality and consistency.

  • Conduct discovery and user research to uncover needs and pain points, translating insights into user-centered design goals and incorporating findings into iterative design improvements.

  • Visualize and prototype intended solutions at multiple levels of fidelity, including high-level wireframes, conceptual designs, design presentations, and detailed specifications.

  • Work both independently and collaboratively with fellow UX team members, technical artists, product managers, and software engineers who are geographically distributed across the globe.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in UX design, and apply them to improve the usability and user experience of our tools.

  • Validate or debunk your assumptions by putting your work in front of users.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of experience designing for complex applications, such as creative tools, game engines, or 3D software.

  • Experience in UX design and prototyping with Figma, including usability testing

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate user experience research findings and design concepts to partners, gaining their support and support.

  • Ability to draw on your mixed-methods research background to identify research opportunities, build a research roadmap, and handle expectations with collaborators

  • Enjoy solving complex user problems using data and customer feedback to present design concepts and inform design decisions.

  • A portfolio or project showing user-centred designs, demonstrating how you used research and data to inform your decisions.

Bonus if

  • You have experience working with Technical Artists

  • You have experience with 3D software (e.g., Maya, Blender)

  • You have experience working in VFX or Video Games

  • Experience learning new design tools, methods, and building on your skillset, including an interest in how to incorporate AI into your processes

This is a hybrid role in Burnaby, BC.


Pay Transparency - North America

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$100,000 - $139,500 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
