We are creating a team to build a new unannounced AAA EA SPORTS product across platforms. The Advanced Technology Group is part of the EA SPORTS Tech organization, focused on developing the latest game features and engine enhancements in close collaboration with game and engine dev teams. You will be part of a team tackling a variety of technical challenges beginning from proof of concept to implementation for titles across EA. An essential priority for this group is to partner with the Frostbite team, our Game teams, and our central art team to create meaningful user facing experiences and content workflow improvements. You will work on our strategic, multi-year project in unifying our Create-a-Head tools and experiences while improving on the created character heads for all EA SPORTS titles.

The Lead Software Engineer is a part of the game creation process. You will help shape the technology, tools and workflows to support long-term strategic projects across all EA Sports franchises. You will be a leader and a technology champion, advancing character creation, realistic visuals and user-generated experiences. You will collaborate with partner teams to propose, plan and implement core technologies shaping the future of EA Sports.

You will report to the Director of Sports Tech - Advanced Technology Group and as a people manager, you will help shape people's careers and mentor the team in growing and reaching their full potential.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Pull requirements and promote technology initiatives through stakeholder engagement.
  • Propose strategy for shared technology to support advancing character creation, realistic visuals and user-generated experiences.
  • Lead the technical design, architecture and implementation of major system components.
  • Develop technical solutions for future initiative feature sets, across all domains of the Advanced Technology Group.
  • Work with Frostbite teams on our tools, technology and workflows.
  • Work with EA Sports game teams to bring our technology, workflows and features into their titles.
  • Partner with the ATG Leadership group to help guide the team's execution and foster a collaborative team culture.
  • Help to guide the team through development and integration into customer teams; focus on build stability, performance and optimization.

Your Qualifications:

  • Experience working in gaming.
  • Technical leadership and mentoring experience
  • Experience leading a team of 5+ engineers.
  • C++, architectural, and software engineering skills.
  • Experience with the Software design/architecture process
  • Take high-level direction, and drive to execution.
  • Explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • 6 or more years' experience developing object-oriented software.
  • Understanding of memory management, multiple processor use, and runtime optimizations.
  • Experience working with Technical and Creative partners.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
    • $133,400 - $193,200 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
