Expectations:

  • You will collaborate with members of the development, production, and design teams to define and implement telemetry strategies that support a high-quality player experience, focusing on game modes, weapon balancing, progression, and in-game events for Battlefield.
  • You will design, review, and improve telemetry tracking plans for key shooter gameplay features and systems, ensuring accurate capture of player behavior, game state changes, and feature engagement metrics.
  • You will analyze large volumes of telemetry data to surface actionable insights, data trends, and potential issues to teams, supporting data-driven decision making for gameplay improvements, tuning, and bug triage.
  • You will partner with QA and development to validate the correct implementation and performance of telemetry events, using both manual and automated methods to ensure data integrity.
  • You will work towards the agreed telemetry strategy goals, such as KPI monitoring, churn analysis, and player retention metrics.
  • You will mentor peers on best practices for telemetry design, data analysis, and the use of visualization tools or dashboards.
  • You will promote standardization and documentation of telemetry implementation practices across multiple teams.
  • You will regularly report findings and recommendations to stakeholders through dashboards, visualizations, and presentations, highlighting the impact on player experience and product quality.
  • You will champion a "Player First" approach, using player data to advocate for improvements and refinements in gameplay quality, balance, and satisfaction.
  • You will work in partnership with peers and stakeholders to refine tooling and processes for telemetry data collection, validation, and analysis to ensure robust support for Battlefield’s live service and future updates.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in game development, quality assurance, analytics, or telemetry-related roles.
  • Deep understanding of telemetry, event logging, and data collection practices in live multiplayer shooter games.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and validating telemetry or instrumentation plans for complex gameplay systems (preferably in AAA shooters).
  • Proficiency with data analytics, dashboarding, and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or custom solutions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large telemetry datasets, and summarize findings in clear, actionable reports for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Practical experience collaborating with the QA and Development team to integrate telemetry requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience using version control systems (e.g., Perforce, GIT) and familiarity with defect, test case, and task tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Test Rail).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting data-driven insights to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with distributed teams and external partners, coordinating telemetry best practices and standards.
  • Familiarity with shooter game mechanics, player engagement metrics, and feature instrumentation methodologies.
