Our motive is to create innovative action games within iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let’s say that again—iconic worlds, where every player feels like the hero.

Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons, to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™, and now to building an original Iron Man action-adventure video game.

We believe in sharing our passion with our community, and with each other by having transparent discussions, by practicing an inclusive culture, and by nurturing a continuous growth mindset. Our approach feels simple, but it leads to the best work of our careers, and as a team, building unique and immersive experiences.

Motive is looking for a Senior Concept Artist to work on the Battlefield Franchise.

 Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director, Character Artists, and Environment Artists to develop a believable cast of characters and immersive game environments.
  • Design original concepts that align with the project’s art direction.
  • Translate high-level ideas into detailed, production-ready art packets.
  • Maintain consistency with the established art direction while exploring a variety of creative ideas.
  • Conduct in-depth research and gather reference materials to support concept development.
  • Create lighting schemes and color palettes that capture and enhance the tone and atmosphere of the game world.
  • Report directly to the Art Director and provide feedback and mentorship to junior artists.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience as a concept artist, with a minimum of 3 years in the gaming industry.
  • Proven track record of shipping multiple AAA video game titles.
  • Ability to create concepts from scratch, including color studies and detailed illustrations.
  • Proficient in producing concepts and explorations at varying levels of quality, from rough sketches to polished key art.
  • Skilled in environment and component ideation and design.
  • Strong traditional illustration skills across multiple media, with excellent drawing abilities and experience in matte painting.
  • Deep understanding of fundamental art principles, including line, light, shadow, and color.
  • Experience with storytelling and concept development.
  • Ability to adapt to specific styles as set by another artist or art director.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding other concept artists.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and creative thinking.
  • Adaptability and openness to feedback.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
