Software Engineer Intern
Contract:

The Challenge Ahead

Within the Central Technology Organization, Development & Release Engineering (DRE) is EA's game Continuous Integration (CI) specialist team, providing automated systems that allow the studio teams to have a playable game build. We also develop and operate other products and platforms, linked in cohesive game development and testing workflows that make life simpler for game creators. In the CI space, we've embarked on a journey to build a product that improves elasticity of our build systems by transitioning workflows from on-prem to cloud infrastructure. You will be part of a globally distributed team responsible for developing our latest solution for game build automation, testing it, and integrating it for a game team customer. You will report to the local Software Engineering Manager and benefit from a local working buddy, both located in Bucharest, and work either in a hybrid capacity (preferable) or full-remotely by creating an engine that amplifies innovation across every discipline. 


Responsibilities:

  • Integrate within the existing team to understand CI automation services for FC, participate in developing new projects.
  • Contribute to programs meant to improve and standardize tech and processes supplied by our team to game teams.
  • Familiarize yourself with the tools and processes used by us in automation.
  • Document workflows and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions.

  • Although it is neither required nor expected to have experience in all our tech, candidates often find it helpful to know what we are using:
  • Windows 10/11, Oracle Linux, Debian
  • Jenkins CI, Azure DevOps, 
  • vSphere / VMware. Azure
  • Git, GitLab, Perforce
  • Python, Groovy, C#, TypeScript
  • Batch scripting, PowerShell, shell scripting

Qualifications:

  • You are studying at a university/vocational school that has a planned internship period (not a graduate).
  • You are available to commence a full-time, 4 months placement in Bucharest.
  • You are located and eligible to work in Bucharest without the need for visa/relocation support.


Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Python and/or Java.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Basic experience with scripting in batch/PowerShell/shell.
  • Good verbal and written English.
