Summary

The Software Engineer - Marketing Cinematics designs, develops, and maintains software tools that support game cinematic content creation for producing trailers for our games. This includes working on game engine code (animation, rendering) and production management tools to optimize global production workflows. This position collaborates closely with cinematics designers, animators, technical artists, and other engineers to streamline workflows, improve productivity, and ensure efficient, high-quality visual content creation. 

This is an on-site or hybrid role with 3 days a week in office. You will report to the Sr. Technology Lead in the Marketing Content Production Craft team. Benefits include health coverage with health care spending, retirement savings plan, gym access, free games, and plenty of additional perks!

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing user requirements and existing tools limitations to design and implement efficient software solutions that improve existing processes.

  • Leveraging and implementing AI/ML solutions to maximize both development efficiency and user productivity.

  • Delivering robust, scalable, and maintainable tools in different programming languages and development environments through version control systems for multiple creative purposes.

  • Autonomously investigating and understanding complex game engine systems to fix code issues, optimize inefficiencies, and implement new features following strict quality and code reviewing policies.

  • Mentoring, leading, and coordinating less experienced developers in the team.

  • Generating technical documentation.

  • Collaborating with partner teams in developing shared solutions across different EA domains.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience as a software engineer in multiple types of software applications (desktop, web, game engines, plugins)

  • Expertise in C++ or C# complex applications

  • Expertise with source control software like Perforce or Git

  • Experience with scripting languages (preferably python)

  • Experience with AI tools for fast full-stack cloud application development (coding agents, AWS, MCP, n8n…)

  • Experience in tool development that may include DCC plugins for content creation tools, rendering pipelines, 3D game engines, procedural content generation, character editing tools, 2D and 3D art content pipelines, asset importers/exporters, and GUI development

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$119,600 - $167,300 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
