Technical Art Director

Sets the tech art direction to support the vision of the game and makes sure the team can deliver when it comes to technology, workflows and performance. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical consistency and quality of art content.
  • Ensuring that content budgets and limits are established, tracked and enforced.
  • Sets and implements process and best practices for technical quality on content production. 
  • Proactively identifies risks. Drives processes to avoid them, speaks up and communicates them. 
  • Partners with other directors and leads to deliver on project goals. 
  • Provide technical guides and documentation.

 

Qualifications

  • Worked on multiple titles, most likely at least 10 years experience.
  • Experienced as Tech Art Director, at least 3 years. 
  • Has a deep understanding of content creation, rendering and pipelines.
  • Can set direction for a team of Tech Artists. This includes mentoring and coaching of several Technical Artists.
  • Can work indirectly through other Directors and Leads to get results by setting requirements and priorities.
  • Excellent communications skills are needed to instruct, inform and guide the whole game team towards the set goals.

 

Typical Tasks

  • Prepare guides and presentations to the team.
  • Manages Tech Artists. 
  • Drives innovations on paper or in software. 
  • Shares knowledge around technical aspects on content. 
  • Assesses technical problems and finds solutions in collaboration with partners. 
  • Research and prototype workflows and pipelines.
