EA Create

EA Create is a collective of content production teams partnering with EA Studios game teams to bring outstanding visuals, audio and technology to life. Technical Art

Technical Art is the bridge between the art and programming departments, with the capability to understand the nuances of art creation and technical code. Creating pipelines and tools to improve overall efficiency for all departments they're connected to.

Technical Artist - Capture

Technical Artists help solve technical problems that arise during the production process, while ensuring that the artistic vision is not compromised. You will report to the Capture TA Lead and partner with the project team to work on solutions. Your responsibilities will include creating tools that enhance artists' workflows, optimizing content for performance limitations, and collaborating with engineers on features. 

This is a hybrid role in Los Angeles, with on-set responsibilities during motion capture shoots. As a part of the Capture TA team, you will collaborate with the broader Technical Art team, Capture artists, and multiple external EA departments to identify future development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the stage crew to validate technical approach

  • Support stage crews with tools and pipeline

  • Engage with new technologies and their implementation

  • Manage internal toolsets, including troubleshooting issues and debugging

  • Partner with artists to build new workflows, producing vertical slices for assessment

  • Build scalable tools and scripts that operate on the processing farm and locally

  • Document processes and tool usage

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience working with Motion Capture technologies

  • Experience with HSL scripting

  • Expertise operating Shogun and MotionBuilder

  • Experience setting up Vicon Capture systems

  • Experience with Python development for standalone apps

  • Experience with signal flow through complex AV systems

  • Understanding of retargeting workflows

  • Shipped Game Titles or VFX / Feature Animation

Bonus:

  • CI\CD with Gitlab

  • Familiarity with Maya, Unreal Engine or other DCC

  • Autodesk Flow (Shotgrid) pipelines

  • Experience with Perforce, Atlassian Confluence, Coda, or similar tools

  • 3d rigging knowledge

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). HOURLY PAY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento)
    • $48 - $70 USD

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
