Join Our Team as a Technical Director!

Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of game development? We are looking for a Technical Director to join our Frostbite Sports and Skate team in Vancouver. Reporting to the Director of Engine Development, you’ll help shape the future of Audio, Movie, and UI technologies in our game engine. This is a collaborative role where you’ll engage other leaders in aligning technology strategies, manage organisational risks and help guide FC technology requirements across all of Frostbite.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and inspire teams to deliver top-tier Frostbite technologies across EA.

  • Guide technical leaders to develop plans that align with project goals, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery.

  • Mentor aspiring technical leaders, nurturing the next generation of talent.

  • Oversee the quality and maintainability of software, driving automation strategies.

  • Champion Frostbite-wide projects and foster collaboration between teams.

  • Shape and communicate technical policies, ensuring agreement across leaders.

  • Collaborate with the Group Technical Director to align technical decisions with strategic goals

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience (5+ years) in designing software within a distributed team.

  • Experience leading multiple technical leaders and projects concurrently.

  • Expertise in C++ and proficiency in additional languages like C#, Java, or Python.

  • Strong background in Agile development and continuous delivery practices.

  • Proficient in optimizing systems for computational efficiency and memory management.

  • A minimum of 10 years in software development, with 3+ years leading developers.

  • At least 5 years in AAA game or game engine development.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial: Audio, Movie, UI, or Rendering technologies.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) * $133,400 - $193,200 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
