Frostbite is EA's proprietary game engine that comes equipped with tons of tools and technologies designed to build incredible games. Our in-house engine offers the unique ability to cater to to each game while working hand-in-hand to prioritize what to build.

As a Technical Art Director on the Frostbite Technical Art team, you will report to the Frostbite Technical Art Director for Sports. You'll collaborate with subject matter experts to develop solutions that empower artists and developers. You'll leverage your experience solving complex technical challenges, building partnerships, and making a lasting impact on the animation community.

This role is in Orlando, Florida and requires work in office three days per week. Other onsite locations may be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • You will work with our team of Animation and Character Physics subject matter experts and TDs to ensure we have plans that support partner needs in a practical and sustainable way across development in Frostbite

  • You will work with our Technical Art team and other central Frostbite teams to improve our engineering and content workflows.

  • You will apply your soft skills, and purposeful strategies to build needs of content creators, to be a translation layer between engineering and content, and to be a capable partner to your counterparts and leadership

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years contributing to the animation space working on AAA games or related industries

  • Demonstrate an ability to discuss complex technical challenges around animation, and physics solutions on multiple shipped AAA titles with other disciplines

  • Expertise in developing and optimizing animation pipelines, tools, and workflows in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams

  • Manage and mentor a team of Technical Artists within an embedded team model

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of in-engine pipelines as they pertain to Gameplay Animation and\or Character Physics and AI

  • Demonstrate experience as a leader and builder of the animation space and community

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of OOP or relevant languages including Python, and prototyping skillsets

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$138,700 - $199,900 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
