Security Engineer II - SPEAR - EA Security

Locations: Austin, TX

Remote Work Option: Hybrid

EA’s Secure Product Engineering & Anti-Cheat Response (SPEAR) organization ensures that all EA products are developed with security and gameplay integrity as a top priority. We partner with platform development teams and game studios to ensure that our players can enjoy playing games securely and fairly.

We are looking for a Security Engineer II to enhance the security and gameplay integrity of the central technologies that underpin backbone of EA’s global gaming ecosystem, delivering the technology that powers EA’s live games and player experiences. Embedded in the Infrastructure & Platform Services (IPS) team, you will drive security-focused design choices and identify and address security and gameplay integrity issues at scale. The security assessments you perform will cover everything from identity, commerce, social, and core backend gaming functionality, safeguarding our player, business and employee data.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of security principles, hands-on experience of vulnerability assessment, and a passion to learn new technologies, challenge assumptions, and find new ways to solve problems. You will report to the Senior Manager of the Verification and Pentest team.

Responsibilities:

  • You will develop a broad understanding of digital platform gaming services and production infrastructure, from scalable cloud solutions to AI-driven gameplay services, to deliver design reviews and static and dynamic assessments, identifying and driving remediation of security and gameplay integrity issues.

  • You will directly engage studio developers by having regular updates with the team on their progress, roadmaps, and providing guidance and education on remediation of vulnerabilities and preventative security test cases.

  • You will partner with SPEAR teams and product teams on the scoping and delivery of complex assessments, making the best use of SPEAR subject matter expertise.

  • Participate in a rotation to review external security vulnerability reports, searching for variants, and consulting on remediation efforts with partner teams.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year hands-on experience of full stack Application Security reviews, including experience with security assessment tools, Java, C++, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.

  • Knowledge in multiple of the following domains: networking, cloud Architecture, and web frameworks, cryptography, authentication mechanisms, and authorization controls

  • Knowledge of multiple of the following exploitation techniques: XSS, SQLi, IDOR, MitM, or RCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Security, or equivalent industry experience
