Our Motive is to create innovative action games within iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds, where every player feels like the hero.

Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star WarsSquadrons, to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™, and now to building an original Iron Man action-adventure video game.

We believe in sharing our passion with our community, and with each other by having transparent discussions, by practicing an inclusive culture, and by nurturing a continuous growth mindset. Our approach feels simple, but it leads to the best work of our careers, and as a team, building unique and immersive experiences.

Motive is looking for a Gameplay Designer to join the Iron Man team to design and implement combat features, delivering an exciting and authentic Iron Man experience. You’ll be joining a multi-disciplinary combat team and work closely with other gameplay designers across a variety of subjects.

Responsibilities:

  • Take direction from design leadership and drive the design of combat abilities and related game systems to create engaging combat experiences
  • Coordinate, drive, and review work on your features
  • Work with the principal combat designer and other designers to ensure your features contribute to the larger combat experience and overall game loop
  • Communicate the design to the team through multiple channels, including written design documents
  • Prototype, implement, and maintain features and content using Unreal Engine 5
  • Collaborate across disciplines, including art, animation, programming, audio, and visual effects to develop your features and ensure a top-tier player experience
  • Review the game against the design goals and identify issues and opportunities to improve the player experience
  • Receive and incorporate feedback from multiple sources to improve your features

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of design experience developing video games
  • Design credits on at least one title where you were responsible for features related to combat
  • Experience working hands-on with a game engine to implement your designs
  • Knowledge of recent action games and trends in the market and the ability to apply insights from them
  • A relentless focus on the player experience
