The Challenge Ahead
We are DICE, the award-winning studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, best known for creating the phenomenally successful 20-years old Battlefield franchise. We strongly believe our people are the backbone and driving force to our creative products, and are always looking for diverse game creators to help us build the best Battlefield experiences and make our studio the best in the industry.
A cinematic animation intern will learn how to record, clean up and author data based on realistic human movement as a member of the animation and tech animation team. You will gain valuable industry experience by collaborating with and assisting other artists in the creation, population, and optimization of game assets.
Responsibilities:
You will work with motion capture data or create animation from reference after you have collected and recorded reference material for the task at hand. Additionally, you will learn about cameras, cinematic composition and framing principles as you help create narrative scenes. You will dive into technical setups in the engine as you author and publish your data, review with your team and bug-fix where necessary.
- Create previzes, block out scenes and provide examples or references from outside sources.
- Work with directors, script and level designers to find the best implementation solutions for our narrative-driven scenes.
- Test and debug your assets in the game.
- Collaborate and discuss artistic and technical challenges with colleagues.
- Seek feedback on your own work not just from your lead or director but from other disciplines as well.
Qualifications:
- You must be currently enrolled at university or education provider with a planned internship period planned into the education plan, for example, LiA.
- Eligible to work in Stockholm, Sweden, without the need for visa/relocation support.
- Available from September 2025
Desired Skills:
- You have artistic qualities and are excellent at interpreting reference and in-game examples.
- You have a solid appreciation and understanding of how things are moving in real life together with a sense of style and willingness to work with actors and stunt performers to create realistic human motion for our projects.
- You have a drive to push through technical challenges to achieve your artistic vision
- You are interested in composition, visual language and story telling.
- You have a good understanding of technical workflows for typical character animation systems within games and you are eager to learn.
- You are creating assets with efficiency while being mindful of performance and production constraints.
- You are well versed with standard rigs and tools within maya / motionbuilder.
