EA Hyderabad is seeking a Data Engineer II with a love for data. You will be responsible for planning, building and deploying Enterprise Integration and Business Intelligence solutions for EA. You will be a subject matter expert in building data integration solutions using modern ETL technologies. You will be leveraging cutting edge tools & technologies to store, analyse petabytes of data and solve complex business problems. You will collaborate with product, business and engineering teams to build & deliver the most optimal solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and organise raw data; model datasets (3NF, dimensional) for analytics and products.
- Build and operate reliable data pipelines (batch and streaming) across multiple sources at petabyte scale.
- Diagnose data issues; implement data quality checks, contracts, and alerting to improve reliability.
- Partner with product, business, and engineering to identify new data acquisition opportunities.
- Create reusable analytical tools, libraries, and metrics that enable data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with data scientists and architects across teams to serve their data needs.
- Evangelise data as a first-class citizen through documentation, standards, and reviews.
Must Have Skills
- 4–6 years designing, developing, and managing data systems (warehouses, lakes, and distributed stores) at multi-PB scale.
- Expert querying and performance tuning in SQL/HiveQL; working knowledge of CQL and MongoDB Query Language.
- Strong data modelling (3NF, star/snowflake); proven optimisation of queries, file formats, and partitioning.
- Proficiency in Python or Java for data engineering.
- Ingestion from JSON/XML/CSV and CDC/streaming sources; schema evolution and backfills.
- Orchestration with Airflow or equivalent; distributed processing with Apache Spark.
- Cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP). Example AWS stack: S3, Glue/EMR, Lambda/Step Functions; Redshift or Snowflake; Trino/Presto; Iceberg/Delta/Hudi.
- Visualisation exposure (Tableau/Power BI) and stakeholder communication.
- Experience in fast-paced agile teams using GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.
- Excellent troubleshooting in distributed environments; clear written and verbal communication.
Desirable Skills
- Real-time pipelines with Kafka/MSK or Kinesis; Flink or Spark Structured Streaming.
- Data quality frameworks (Great Expectations/Deequ) and lineage/catalogue (DataHub/Amundsen).
- Basic statistical modelling or ML feature engineering in production.
