In EA's Legal team, we provide practical solutions to manage risk so our EA teams can focus on offering great gaming experiences. To succeed, we have to put our players first, know our partners' goals, and solve problems by being innovative and taking smart risks.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative, and driven artificial intelligence (AI) attorney to join our team. As a part of EA's AI Legal Team, you will report to Senior AI Counsel. You will support EA's AI program and practices to help deliver upon EA's mission to be the world's greatest games company. You will work from the office 3 days per week.

You are an attorney with an interest and experience in the intersection of law and AI, are inquisitive and have a passion for technology and video games.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deploy AI legal related internal resources such as playbooks, policies, tools, trackers, templates and other documentation to guide teams using or building AI for our games and more.
  • Develop and help implement EA's AI legal strategy and guidance.
  • Conduct risk assessments of AI technologies and use cases for EA's game teams and other partners, to provide recommendations and mitigation strategies, in partnership with EA's security, privacy, employment, IP, commercial and product counsel teams.
  • Review and draft AI related agreements, in collaboration with EA's commercial counsel.
  • Advise on internal and external communications relating to AI, working with corporate communications and business development teams.
  • Research, test and implement AI solutions and workflows within EA Legal and company-wide.
  • Develop and provide internal trainings and other education designed to minimize EA's AI related risks.
  • Support government affairs, litigation, patents, open source and other teams on AI related matters.
  • Monitor developments in AI and technology regulation globally, and conducting legal and technical research on AI, video games and related areas, to help provide applicable advice to partners across EA's studios.

Qualifications

  • J.D. with 2+ years of experience in an in-house legal department, working at the intersection of law and technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear and applicable guidance.
  • Experience working with AI.
  • Interest in technology and video games.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$111,600 - $152,800 CAD
* California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) *$124,100 - $182,800 USD

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
