The FC Gameplay Advanced Team makes meaningful innovations in team strategy, AI, player animation, and player interactions that create exciting back of the box features for the EA Sports FC franchise. We work with creative designers, artists, and engineers to deliver big ideas that matter to the millions of players who enjoy the biggest sports video game in the world.

In this role you will join our multidisciplinary effort to deliver the best animation in the industry. You will be initially focusing on building a generative system to produce poses at runtime.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Apply machine learning techniques to develop high-quality human motion models that respond quickly to real-time controller input.

  • Integrate ML models into C++ game code to support and ship production features.

  • Develop and maintain a complete animation data pipeline for ML training, from data source to deployment.

  • Build stress tests to validate model robustness and performance prior to release.

  • Gather and analyze live deployment data to identify issues and optimize model performance.

  • Gather, annotate, and synthesize training data using EA FC mocap, real-world volumetric data, and feedback from animation experts.

  • Share results through shipping features, presentations, papers, prototypes, and interactive demonstrations.

  • Stay current with latest ML and animation advancements, collaborating with production, design, and art teams to identify and drive impactful projects.

Your Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in animation, with familiarity using 3D animation tools such as MotionBuilder or game engines.

  • Experience with Python and ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.

  • Experience productizing ML solutions, either as standalone applications or production services.

  • Experience optimizing ML models for real-time, memory- and compute-constrained environments.

  • Proficiency in C++ and Python.

  • Experience working with cloud technologies such as containers, Kubernetes, Azure, or AWS.

  • Experience handling large-scale datasets (GBs–TBs).

  • Knowledge of 3D transformations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$100,000 - $139,500 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
