Senior Cinematic Artist – Animator

The Marketing Cinematics (Craft Cinematics) team is responsible for creating high-impact, real-time trailers across multiple EA IPs. We operate at the edge of what game engines can visually achieve - pushing Frostbite and Unreal beyond typical gameplay constraints to deliver visually stunning marketing content seen by millions of players worldwide.

We are looking for a Senior Cinematic Artist – Animator who is passionate about storytelling, performance, and camera language. This is a hands-on production role focused on animation excellence, creative collaboration, and delivering emotionally compelling, real-time cinematic experiences.


This is a hybrid role.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality, performance-driven character and camera animation in Maya and Motionbuilder for real-time marketing cinematics

  • Translate creative direction into compelling shots with strong cinematic timing and camera language

  • Polish motion capture data to achieve believable weight, physicality, and emotional nuance

  • Block and design shots in-engine for previs and layout. 

  • Refine performances in Maya and Motionbuilder to final quality

  • Integrate animation into Frostbite (and occasionally Unreal) while maintaining camera framing and skeletal integrity

  • Collaborate closely with lighting, editorial, and creative direction to ensure cohesive storytelling Iiterate quickly in response to evolving edits and layered stakeholder feedback

  • Contribute to performance capture and virtual production workflows when applicable

  • Manage and track work through production tools (e.g., ShotGrid/Flow) in a fast-paced marketing environment

Your Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in character or cinematic animation

  • Strong sense of cinematic timing, camera language, and storytelling through performance

  • Advanced proficiency in Maya 

  • Experience polishing motion capture data

  • Experience working with real-time engines (Frostbite, Unreal, or similar)

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across disciplines

  • Ability to work effectively in an iterative, deadline-driven production environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience creating or contributing to AAA marketing trailers or high-visibility media

  • Experience with facial animation and conveying emotion through subtle performance

  • Comfort working with Perforce or similar version control systems

  • Previs and layout experience in-engine

  • Exposure to virtual production tools (virtual cameras, markerless capture, Xsens, etc.)

  • Experience with scripting (Python) or workflow automation


Pay Transparency - North America

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$91,100 - $126,900 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
