Description & Requirements

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

EA SPORTS is one of the most iconic brands in entertainment - connecting hundreds of millions around the world to the sports they love through a portfolio of industry-leading video games.

We are EA’s Character Animation Research Team (known as the A-Team), a cross-functional, applied R&D team, strategically positioned in EA to drive and disrupt the future of character animation technology. We are a self-motivated, collaborative team, empowered to constantly explore and leverage the latest innovations across the fields of animation, rigging, physics, and machine learning. Our technology has been used to create next-generation gameplay realism across EA titles including FC, Madden, NHL, UFC, Battlefield, and many others.

As a Senior Software Engineer (Web Tools) you will build modern cloud and web based tools for digital content creation in the animation domain. At the core of this role is a passion for building high-quality tools that empower other developers and artists. That focus comes to life through close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, animators, and UX designers to create novel workflows.

On this team, you will help develop and operate the web platform that provides access to billions of frames of real-world animation data captured from professional sports leagues. You will have the opportunity to work across our technology stack, from database schemas and APIs to frontend UI components. Your work will help us transform this raw data into game assets through innovative workflows and tools that enable our artists to deliver unprecedented levels of authenticity and realism.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design and build end-to-end features for our web-based tool suite, with a focus on writing code that’s clean, reliable, and easy to maintain.

  • Take ownership of critical portions of our technology stack, helping keep systems stable, performant, and healthy over time.

  • Research and adopt innovative technologies, frameworks, and workflows to improve how we build and evolve our platform.

  • Partner closely with game development partners to understand real game development problems and turn inspiration into practical solutions.

  • Collaborate with UX designers to create intuitive, thoughtful workflows.

  • Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate development, prototyping, and experimentation where it adds value.

  • Deploy and operate services on cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., Kubernetes) to support scalable and reliable development.

Your Qualifications:

Please note that you do not need to meet all qualifications to be considered. We encourage you to apply if you can meet most of the requirements and are comfortable opening a dialog to be considered.

  • Strong foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.

  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, or Lit).

  • Experience with frontend and/or backend development, including APIs, databases, and cloud services.

  • Familiarity with development workflows such as Git, CI pipelines, and debugging.

  • Some backend experience with Node.js, Express, or similar frameworks.
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and container tools like Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience or familiarity with real-time communication or data systems (WebSockets, GraphQL, gRPC, Kafka).

  • Experience with 3D visualization (Three.js, glTF) and skeletal animation, including basic 3D math concepts.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as D3.js.

  • Experience with additional languages (Python, C++, C#, Go, or Rust) is a plus.

Bonus:

  • Curious mindset and commitment to continuous growth.

  • Enjoys collaborating across disciplines and learning from teammates.

  • Passion for games and interactive experiences.
