Technical Art Director - DCS - EA Sports
Location: Kuala Lumpur (Onsite)

As a Technical Art Director at EA Malaysia DCS, you will lead the technical vision and execution for our EA Sports franchises within DCS in Malaysia, ensuring the seamless integration of artistic excellence and cutting-edge technology. You will deploy and development pipelines, tools, and workflows that empower artists and engineers to deliver high-quality content efficiently across various sports titles. Collaborating with Art, Engineering, and Design, you will drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Define and implement the technical art strategy for your assigned EA Sports franchise(s), aligning with project goals and EA’s creative vision.
- Pipeline Deployment and Development: Spearhead the creation and optimization of content pipelines, tools, and workflows to maximize efficiency in character, environment, and live content production across multiple sports titles.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with EA Sport leads to resolve technical constraints and challenges, ensure cohesive execution.
- Innovation & R&D: Drive research into emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption to push visual and production boundaries.
- Quality Assurance: Uphold technical standards.
- Mentorship: Guide and grow a Technical Art team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
- Risk Management: Identify project risks early and develop mitigation strategies, communicating proactively with studio leadership.
Experience Requirements
- 8+ years of technical art experience.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming Python, C# (C++ is a plus).
- Deep knowledge of 2D/3D tools (Maya, Houdini, Substance, Photoshop) and game engines (Unreal, Frostbite, or proprietary engines).
- Strong understanding of real-time rendering, asset optimization, and memory/performance profiling.
- Proven ability to bridge art and engineering, with exceptional communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Passion for solving complex problems, debugging, and innovating under technical constraints.
- Experience with procedural workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Art, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
