Art Director 


*Note - this role requires on-site/hybrid work from our Victoria B.C. studio.

EA SPORTS is one of the leading sports entertainment brands in the world, with top-selling videogame franchises, award-winning interactive technology, fan programs, and cross-platform digital experiences. EA SPORTS creates connected experiences that ignite the emotion of sport through industry-leading sports video games, including Madden NFL football, EA Sports FC soccer, NHL® hockey, and EA SPORTS UFC.

The Art Director oversees the visuals of a project’s environment. This includes the aesthetic look and the team of Artists that create the content. Reports directly to the Head of Content, and the Creative Director or Sr Art Director as the day-to-day manager on the project.

Your Responsibilities


●      Set the art direction for the title or your responsibilities. Develop the style and tone together with other directors.

●      Lead the Art team to success. The market is always changing and we must achieve inspiring experiences that can wow our players.

●      Provide feedback to the Artists, with a focus on artistic execution.

●      Maintain a well working and healthy team.

●      Convey and champion the art direction to marketing and external partners.

●      Compile or produce reference material that guides the Artists in their work.

●      Make presentations regarding art direction, process, goals and results.

●      Take part in creating plans for tasks, staffing, timelines and budgets.

●      Provide feedback to Artists and external partners. This can be verbal or written, but visual sketches, paint-overs or mock-ups are even better.

●      Review the in-game experience together with other Directors, Producers and Leads.

●      Travel between studios, ensure alignment across a diverse, distributed team.

Your Qualifications


●       Worked on multiple titles, most likely with 5+ years experience.

●       A broad understanding of everything visual. This includes other media and a range of techniques.

●       Have a sense of stylization, experience working within stylized environments.

●       Experience working within a game engine, understands implementation end-to-end.

●       Led a large team of Artists, likely in the 30-70 range. This includes mentoring of several sub-leads.

  • Drive to execute. Projects you've worked on in the past (personal or professional) got finished, and got finished properly... and it had a lot to do with you.
