Reports to: Head of APAC Legal, Los Angeles, USA
Role Summary:
The Regional Counsel (Attorney 2) will support the legal team in managing legal and compliance matters within Korea and Asia for Electronic Arts. This role will involve assisting in contract review, regulatory compliance, and various corporate legal functions to support business operations in Korea and Asia. The position requires strong organizational and research skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Contract Review and Drafting
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including licensing, distribution, content creation, marketing, and various outsourcing agreements.
- Work under the supervision of senior legal staff to ensure agreements align with company policies and legal standards.
2. Employment
- Support senior members of the team in providing oversight on employment matters in Asia.
3. Compliance and Regulatory Support
- Support senior members of the team in monitoring adherence to regional laws, including data privacy laws, labor regulations, and industry standards.
4. Intellectual Property (IP) Management
- Collaborate with the global IP team to address issues related to content usage.
5. Research and Legal Analysis
- Conduct legal research on regional laws and regulations relevant to the video game industry and provide summaries to the legal team.
- Stay up-to-date with legal trends and potential regulatory changes that could impact the company’s regional operations.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with other departments, including finance, HR, marketing, and operations, to provide legal input on day-to-day projects.
- Participate in meetings with internal clients to discuss legal considerations for various business initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent from an accredited law school; admission to practice law in common law jurisdiction (e.g., US, UK, Aus, etc.) or Korea.
- Experience: 2-4 years of legal experience, preferably with exposure to the entertainment, media, or digital industries, either in-house or at a law firm.
- Expertise:
- Foundational knowledge of entertainment law, contract law, IP law, and compliance matters.
- Experience with contract negotiation and drafting.
- Familiarity with regional regulations affecting media and entertainment, such as data privacy and labor laws.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams.
