Role Overview
As a Senior Accountant II in the European Controllership Team, you’ll take on a vital role in managing the European consolidation, reporting, technical accounting, and compliance for EA’s international headquarter, EA Swiss, and a holding company, Electronic Arts Geneva. This role, based in our Lyon office, offers a hybrid work model and reports to the Europe Consolidation and Technical Reporting Manager.
Responsibilities
EU Close, Consolidation, and Reporting
- Act as the primary contact for European teams to monitor close progress and address any issues that arise.
- Prepare monthly European Balance Sheet reports for the Corporate Controllership team in North America.
- Contribute to European disclosures for quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize the month-end close and reporting cycles.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Oversee Internal Control Systems (ICS) documentation and perform effectiveness testing, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare statutory financial statements and corporate tax provisions for two Swiss entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to local regulations.
- Manage submissions for statistical declarations and other local compliance filings, guaranteeing timely, accurate filings.
- Coordinate with external auditors in Switzerland and the U.S. for interim and annual audits, providing documentation and responses as needed, and support internal audit requirements.
Technical Accounting
- Draft detailed accounting memorandums to document treatment and decisions.
- Participate in the contract review process, ensuring accurate accounting assessments and approvals are documented.
- Evaluate emerging technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with Swiss statutory requirements and US GAAP, preparing relevant documentation.
FX, Project Management, and Collaboration
- Support projects aimed at aligning and modernizing close processes and financial systems, bringing forward ideas to improve workflow efficiency.
- Engage in collaborative tasks, contributing to the team’s growth and continuous learning by actively sharing expertise and supporting peers.
- Prepare analysis, forecasts and entries for hedging and foreign exchange transactions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Qualified CPA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent preferred.
- 5+ years of financial accounting experience in a relevant role.
- In-depth knowledge of SOX compliance, internal controls, and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Power BI.
- Experience with Oracle R12, Hyperion Financial Management, or similar systems.
- Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
