What does an Audio Technical Artist do?
As a Technical Artist on the Audio and Movie team, you will report to Frostbite's Technical Art Manager. You will directly contribute to and push the boundaries of the newest tools and workflows that Frostbite releases to our community of game teams. You'll help make our development process more creator-centric by gathering feedback from content creators throughout EA and working with engineers on the Frostbite team to improve the usability of content workflows and help steer the design of new features.
Key Responsibilities
Provide insights using your experience and perspective as an audio content creator to inform the design of new tools and workflows.
Build compelling audio tech demos to demonstrate the power of the engine and inspire the community to achieve their creative vision.
Build content for our Testers to ensure stable and high-quality features
Write documentation and create training materials to help educate the Frostbite community.
Work with audio directors and artists on game teams to advise on solutions and best practices to achieve their project's vision for sound design.
Support and guide the migration of game content to utilize new features and technologies developed by the Frostbite engineering team.
Keep up-to-date with industry standards and products related to audio and movie production in game development to help inform workflow and feature development.
Required Experience
Working knowledge of industry-standard audio tools (e.g. Pro-Tools, Ableton Live)
Industry experience in game sound design (e.g. mixing, implementation, asset creation, sound design)
2+ years experience with sound implementation in games, either using Unreal, Unity, FMOD, Wwise, or equivalent toolset
Shipped 2+ games
Bonus Experience
Experience with recording sessions, music, voice, FX
Knowledge of scripting languages such as LUA or Python
Shipped a AAA title
Experience with movie middleware applications or encoding tools (e.g. Premiere)
Experience with Atlassian Confluence & Jira software or similar tools
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
- $89,300 - $123,000 CAD
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
