Role overview

 
We are seeking a Senior Narrative Designer to join the Battlefield team to help drive the narrative experience of Battlefield forward. Are you someone who can help turn narrative intent into clearly owned, well-communicated, production-ready work that ships cleanly? Working closely with cross-discipline teams, you will help deliver the implementation of the game’s story elements, ensuring an engaging and coherent player experience in alignment with Battlefield’s tone, lore, and gameplay pillars. You will bring structure, follow-through, stakeholder alignment, and calm, disciplined delivery to complex game content.

 
Responsibilities

  • Narrative Guardianship: Help define and uphold the narrative vision, tone, and storytelling goals for Battlefield’s game world. Work with a team of narrative designers and writers, maintaining project consistency and high-quality standards. 
  • Narrative System Design: Maintaina strong understanding of narrative design work from brief through implementation, review, polish, and delivery. Design, prototype, and iterate narrative systems (dialogue, branching logic, environmental storytelling, signage, interactive moments). Oversee the integration of narrative with gameplay, UI, and player progression systems. 
  • Be the Team Player: Providecross-disciplinary stakeholder managementfacilitatingfocused creative discussions that include the right voices and lead to clear, practical next steps. 
  • Align early with design, art, audio, production, localisation, QA, engineering, and partner teams to ensure that the narrative spaces and intent are identified and communicated. 
  • Be the driver of solutions: Use a clear understanding of the production process,budgetsand impact to align narrative solutions with other departments. 
  • Identify risks, blockers, dependencies, and unclear ownership before they create the need for reworking. 
  • Be a Key Communicator:Communicate calmly,inclusivelyand constructively during production to ensure a smooth process across teams. 
  • Keep workand progressvisible through clear documentation, JIRA updates, Slack updates, and regular follow-ups with the team. 
  • Ensure the final player experience is coherent, readable, and aligned with creative intent. 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in Narrative Design with at least 1-2 shipped AAA titles in a narrative design role (FPS/action preferred).
  • Familiarity with game engines (Unreal, Unity, Frostbite) and scripting/tools (Jira, Perforce).
  • Strong storytelling abilities and knowledge of narrative structure, character development, and interactive storytelling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to give constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, feedback-rich environment.
  • Familiarity with the Battlefield franchise and a passion for military action stories.
  • Understanding of branching, gameplay scripting, and VO requirements.
