Role Overview

The DICE Sound team is looking for a Senior Sound Designer to join our in-house Audio team. A Senior Sound Designer at DICE can work across many aspects of game audio. We value audio developers who can contribute broadly while bringing deep expertise in one or two areas. As a Senior Sound Designer, you may work across many aspects of game audio or focus on a specific area, depending on the needs of the project.

For this position, we are looking for a Senior Sound Designer with a background in music and a strong understanding of how sound and music shape the player experience. In this role, you will contribute across a broad range of sound design challenges while also working with music implementation and helping bring the game's musical vision into the interactive experience.

While sound design remains at the core of the role, music will be an important part of your day-to-day work. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience collaborating with composers, implementing music in games, or helping shape interactive musical experiences.

You will handle all facets of the role, including collaborating with external vendors, composers, creating and implementing music and audio content, refining and debugging systems, contributing to music implementation, and helping shape the final in-game mix.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Audio Direction and understand how each piece fits into and supports a readable, consistent, and high-quality soundscape, creating assets and implementations that meet both creative and technical goals.
  • Design, create, implement, and refine high-quality audio content that supports gameplay, narrative, and player immersion.
  • Work collaboratively across the audio team and wider development team, contributing your expertise where it has the greatest impact while helping drive quality within your areas of specialization.
  • Collaborate with audio directors, team members, composers, and external partners to help bring the game's musical vision into the interactive experience.
  • Contribute to the implementation, integration, and evolution of music content and systems, helping shape how music and sound work together in-game.
  • Design and refine interactive music behaviours, transitions, and playback logic that respond to gameplay and player actions.
  • Balance quality, effort, and scope to deliver audio content within agreed timelines, while maintaining a structured approach to planning and development.
  • Seek out, provide, and act on feedback to continuously improve your work, the work of the audio team, and the overall player experience.
  • Actively contribute to the mix of your content and provide feedback on the overall mix and presentation of the game.
  • Help evolve audio workflows, standards, and best practices through collaboration, continuous improvement, and mentorship of more junior team members.

Qualifications:

  • Experience sourcing, creating, implementing, and refining high-quality audio content for games or interactive entertainment.
  • A strong understanding of how sound and music work together to support gameplay, storytelling, and player experience.
  • Experience working with music in an interactive environment, whether through music implementation, music design, composition, or close collaboration with composers.
  • Developed artistic judgement and the ability to interpret creative direction, work from reference, and deliver high-quality results.
  • A solid appreciation and understanding of how sound works in the real world, with a sense for realism and believability, while understanding when readability and gameplay needs should take priority.
  • Proficiency with professional audio production tools and workflows.
  • Experience integrating audio into game environments while balancing creative goals with technical and performance constraints.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and feedback skills.
  • Proficient with common studio hardware, editing techniques and software such as Reaper, Sound Forge, Waves, Fabfilter and IzoTope RX.
  • Knowledge of audio middleware, e.g. Unreal, META sounds, FMOD, UNITY
  • Knowledge of graphical audio programming, e.g. Reaktor, Max-MSP, Pure Data, is a bonus.

As part of your application, please provide:

  • An up-to-date resume and cover letter
  • A show-reel demonstrating your skills
  • As part of the application process we might ask you to perform a work assignment.
