Motive Studio is developing an original Iron Man game in partnership with Marvel Games. We are seeking a Senior Development Director to lead the Quality Verification (QV) strategy and delivery for this ambitious project. This leader will be a critical partner to Motive Studio—aligning development and QV, driving operational excellence, fostering team health, and ensuring predictable, high-quality outcomes throughout the entire development lifecycle.

Role Overview

As Senior Development Director, you will serve as the strategic and operational leader for QV on Iron Man. You will partner closely with studio leadership to shape quality direction, ensure strong cross-discipline collaboration, and guide teams through complex development phases with clarity and purpose. This role requires a seasoned, relationship-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, execution, and communication.

You will thrive in this role if you are a relationship-driven leader who naturally builds trust across disciplines, teams, and studios. You bring clarity to ambiguity, navigate complex environments with confidence, and balance strategic vision with a willingness to dive deep when needed. You anticipate risks early, guide teams toward proactive solutions, and use data and insight to influence design, technical decisions, and milestone planning.

You are also someone who leads with purpose and invests deeply in people—mentoring high-performing teams, empowering leaders, and maintaining alignment even under pressure. Your communication is crisp and adaptable to any audience, and you excel at driving cross-functional collaboration across distributed teams. Above all, you champion quality and operational excellence, ensuring that players experience the best possible version of Iron Man.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and own the strategic delivery of QV across all development phases.
  • Anticipate, evaluate, and communicate risks with clear, proactive mitigation plans.
  • Ensure QV insights influence design decisions, technical planning, and milestone structures.
  • Oversee QV planning, execution, and reporting with a focus on predictability and transparency.
  • Drive operational improvements including defect prevention, automation, and workflow optimization.
  • Foster strong collaboration across departments, studios, and geographically distributed partners.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop QV leaders and experts, ensuring team structure and skills evolve with project needs.
  • Align with studio leadership on goals, priorities, quality metrics, and risk assessment.
  • Represent QV in milestone reviews, roadmap planning, and quality assessments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of project management or QA/QV leadership experience in game development.
  • Proven success delivering large-scale, multi-disciplinary game projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate effectively across studios or distributed teams.
  • Experience making sound, autonomous decisions and escalating appropriately.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging for a range of audiences.
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep understanding of software development processes and data-informed decision making.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and modern project management workflows.
  • Action or role-playing game development experience is desirable.
