Data Engineer, Dynamic Messaging

The Dynamic Messaging Data Engineer will report to the Manager, Messaging Insights & Diagnostics. This is a hybrid role (3 days in office per week).

EA Experiences oCXO CRM

The Email & Dynamic Messaging (EDM) team sits within the CRM group, responsible for email as a channel, and for developing products that improve the way we implement strategies at scale.

Our team focuses on core metrics that improve incremental growth for the business, while maintaining the health of the channel and creating positive experiences for the Player.

As a Dynamic Messaging Data Engineer, you will manage the daily targeting, matching, performance, and measurement processes within our data pipelines. You will work with other teams across CRM and the broader organization to ensure successful outcomes for Players. You have a background in data analytics, marketing, and data engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate & Improve: Dive deep into data systems to uncover insights, troubleshoot issues, and design scalable databases and models that power high-volume, low-latency applications.
  • ETL Development: Maintain ETL pipelines, ensuring best performance and reliability.
  • Plan for Scale: Influence planning, and scalability strategies to meet evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate & Align: Inform requirements for developers, product managers, solution architects, and strategists to deliver impactful outcomes.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as a trusted consultant to architects and business partners, managing dependencies and guiding best practices.
  • Stay Curious: Embrace change, learn new technologies, and apply fresh skillsets to ensure team and company success.
  • Secure & Comply: Uphold database security standards and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years in enterprise environments managing relational and non-relational databases.
  • CRM Expertise: Knowledge of CRM concepts, marketing data, and marketing technologies.
  • Programming: SQL, Python (or Scala/Java).
  • Databases: Relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) & NoSQL (DynamoDB).
  • Pipeline Expertise: Experience building and scaling ETL/data pipelines for high-volume, low-latency applications.
  • Version Control: Experience with Git, GitHub, GitLab
  • Data Science Concepts: Understanding data lifecycle, analysis principles.
  • System Design: Basic concepts of distributed systems, scalability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Governance Knowledge: Familiarity with data governance, privacy regulations, and security best practices.
  • ETL/ELT Tools: Experience with tools like Apache Airflow
  • Big Data: Familiarity with Spark, Hadoop, Kafka.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Pay Transparency - North America

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$83,000 - $116,400 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
